Last night I went to a Kids Consignment Sale to find some inexpensive things for my baby. I was just wondering what things you would buy used from one of these places and what things you would only buy new? The major thing that I am against buying used is stuffed animals. There's no good way to wash them. I also have a thing about buying used potty chairs. I know they can be cleaned pretty easily, but I still feel like it's too dirty to buy one of those used. I ended up buying a few plastic toys that I was able to use Clorox wipes on and then wash in soapy water and a brand new Baby Bjorn. So what things for your kids will you not buy used?

The only used items I have used for my kids is clothing and I would never buy used underclothing-- would gross me out. The bigger things I got new with each kid. I would not put my kid in a high chair, stroller, swing, crib or anything used it can be dangerous. You never know if it works perfectly and how the last person took care of it.

I mostly get clothes and toys at the sales. I've also gotten some small furniture pieces for his room. I think they're great, because most of the clothes are just outgrown and are perfectly fine to use. Nobody needs to know where you got it from!

I'm too paranoied to buy anything used for kids. I don't know where it came from or what kind of environment it was in. The only used kids items I'd ever use were ones passed to me from family, provided they either got it new, or got it from another family member.

I'll only buy clothes and some toys from consignment sale. Underwear is just gross. I wouldn't even think of that. And the only way I would buy a potty chair is if it were in an unopened sealed box brand new. And since my daughter is just 17 months I'll still buy shoes from consignment sales if they're in really good condition but as she gets older I wouldn't buy shoes used.
