I have come across this term a number of times but never really bothered to find out what it meant. So what exactly is OEM software. Is it some kind of an authentic seal. How is it different from non-OEM software.

OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. As it really means is that you're getting it from the company who created it. The term is used a lot for printer toner because companies will make generic or remanufactured versions of name brand toners.

OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer. OEM software is software for new computer. The software will detect the hardware and mark it as the computer hardware and the software only made for that hardware so whenever you change the hardware you must bought and installed new software because the software cannot installed in your new hardware..

From the Wikipedia: Original equipment manufacturer, or OEM, is a term that refers to a situation in which one company purchases a manufactured product from another company and resells the product as its own , usually as a part of a larger product the original company is selling. This happens a lot with computer that have oem windows for example.

OEM stand for Original Equipment MAnufacturer. OEM financial software packages are those sold to computer manufacturers for inclusion onnew systems. Often, OEM software does not include full functionality and is produced to give the new PC buyer an idea of how the software works in hopes that the user will buy or upgrade to the full financial software package.
