hmm ive started like too many discussions havnt yet figured out if any was best or not is there any signal to indicate and if there is no signal should there be a signal

As in will you be notified when it gets to the top/hot? Nope, no signals. You have to check manually yourself.
The discussion usually doesn't stay there too long anyway. It will just disappeared and be replaced by others after a while. You might even never see your discussion up there - but for all you know, it could have been up while you were sleeping but gone when you are awake. :P
