Internet Explorer 6/7 Quirks

I'm embarking on an "adventure" tonight and tomorrow to adjust a site full of features that work just fine on every browser *except* IE 6/7, mostly CSS issues with a couple nuisance JS issues.
Does anybody out there have references they use when it comes to comparing IE's CSS/JS implementations to Firefox, Opera, Safari, Konqueror (both these share the base engine KHTML, I know), etc.?
I've already discovered the charming "display: none; doesn't work on IE" issue (thanks for ignoring *that* standard, Microsoft), but are there other gotchas waiting for me?
Opinions welcome :)

There are quite a few of browser compatibility tables out there for web languages. The site I like for web programming is W3schools.com.
My only complaint about IE is not one for web programming. It's a bug that's been plaguing me ever since I installed IE7. Every time I close down a tab or window I get the dreaded error sound followed by some window about an error I don't understand. Happens so much that I can't use IE without getting annoyed. I can't seem to find the solution for this error either. It drives me nuts, but I still use IE for cross-compatibility checks when I make web sites.
I find that Safari doesn't like a few of the sites that I like to visit, like LiveJournal. If I tred to post a comment or journal entry, the text looks fragged, and I see it properly to edit it. This is why I dislike Safari very much; for me it's been a pain for compatibility issues.
