How many hours do you work a week?

Do you work over or under 40? Do you have two jobs? Do you go to school and also work? I work 40 hours a week and also go to school 12 hours a week. I don't really get a day off because on my days off from work I go to school all day. It is hard because I don't have as much time for homework or even free time, but its necessary. I do wish I didn't have to work that much sometimes when it gets hard and I have little time to rest. Do you think that working 40 hours and going to school is an impossible task? I know that some people do but I manage it although I don't get as good of grades as I want to.

I am lucky in that i have both a job that i love and a job that pays very well, i work on average of 30-40 hours a week and make more than enough to survive. I would imagine that both working and studying at the same time would be very tiring though.

You ARE lucky. I don't particularly love my job. Usually I don't hate it, but I don't love it. And I don't consider my salary to be bad, but it's not enough to pay off my school loans and still have enough discretionary income.

Yeah you are very lucky. I do like my job and it does pay enough for now but not enough for me to save for the future so I don't have to continue working this much.

I don't think it's impossible, but I do think what you're doing sounds difficult. Is it possible to cut back on one or the other? Can you cut back your hours at work without losing benefits and still have enough money to live on? Or can you cut back on the classes you take? I know sometimes that's a problem if you are counting on the financial aid; you need to be enrolled in class a certain number of hours. Another thing you could maybe do the next time you register for classes is try to make sure some of the classes you take are pretty easy and won't require lots of homework.

Yeah I've thought about cutting back my work hours but then I wouldn't get the full-time benefits that I get now. I can't cut back on classes though I am taking the minimum that I can and I can't really take easy ones because all I have left is hard classes. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. :)

Well, hopefully you don't have too much schooling left if you've taken all the easy classes :-). Sometimes it helps just to know that a hard situation won't last forever.

TO MANY - since I've been working from home I'm afraid I don't keep track of actual hours but sometimes I'm working from before the sun comes up until long after it goes down. Same as you, there are many times I don't have a day off. Thing is though then I turn around and will have days and days that I don't work. I am working on getting some sort of a schedual set up so that I do cut back on hours per day and also figure in 'a day off'. A couple years ago I too was working 40 hours plus 12 credit hours of college. I took half of my classes online so that helped some but it was difficult at times finding time for homework and often fell asleep with books in my lap or on the computer.

Oh I'm sorry that you have to endure that much work too, its no fun. I hope you do get some sort of schedule figured out. I've been hoping that my college will do more online classes because I would love to take some that way. See I can't follow asleep when I'm doing something so I never have that problem except falling asleep driving that bothers me a lot although I only fall asleep for a second.

I have NEVER had a LOT of energy. When I went to college I know I couldn't have had a job - but now we know that if my allergies had been identified before I got out of high school, my grades might've been better if I hadn't had a bad headache every day. I don't envy you with your schedule, best of luck. I work 23ish hours a week, plus an additional unpaid 7 hrs with my mom. I also drive my roomie to & from work.

Well you are lucky to have been able to do that. I understand about allergies too, they are constantly plaguing me and most allergy medicine makes me really sleepy.
