What is wrong with highschoolers today?

I can't even count how many things are wrong with the kids at my school. They drink, they smoke, they swear. They fail their classes because they don't feel like doing any work. I don't find it hard to do what I am told. I get good grades and I understand the subject matter. So, who is to blame? Parents? Media?

I think it is because most kids have life too easy today. Even at home, they are required to do very little. Parents often hand them an allowance to buy anything they want so why should they work? We can hardly blame the kids for it, because this is all they have ever known. Soon they get the idea that what they want is the most important thing and they rebel when they find out this isn't true. I'm not your mother, but I feel proud anyway that there are some kids still willing to do the right things in life. Keep up the good work and I know you will be a very successful and happy adult.
