Many see Gorbachev as an ideologist and many say he was the destructor of USSR. During his period of 1985to 1991 his perestroika and Glasnost (reconstruction and liberalization ) reforms they say, ruined the soviet union. To a large extent yes, but it was for good. He was awarded with Noble peace Prize in 1990 for his work. Whatever said and done the former super powers Kremlin rule was shattered. How do you rate his rofrms and Him as a eprson. 1 - Lowest points 10- Highest points Please substantiate your the rating with a description. My points - 8 The Soviet Union had reached a very bad socio economic condition during mid 187 and many partners of USSR were unhappy about the Kremlin's policies towards them. It would have happened any way, if not for Gorbachev. He probably facilitated a smoother path and avoided a civil war probably.

I would rate him at 9 He was a man with vision. The best and most appreciated part is he had the courage to face the fanatics who felt that he is dividing the soviet union. SU any way would have divided due to powerty. Some of the nations were almost reached the conditions where the food was distirbuted in a limited qty per person. This man had the guts to do what he felt is good for the country. His visions and ideology should be appreciated
