Boondock Saints... Who has seen it?

'Boondock Saints; is one of the best movies ever made, but most people have never even heard of it. I don't know if it ever played in theaters, and there is little or no advertising for it. It is the little movie that could. It obtained its die-hard, cult following strictly from word of mouth.
To basically sum it up... These two Irish brothers in Boston 'fall' into being vigilante heroes. They go after bad people, namely mobsters. That is the movie in a nutshell, but the writing, directing, acting, and especially musical score are just amazing.
So, the question is... Who has or has not seen this great movie? If you have, what do you think about it? Favorite scenes, reasons why this movie is so good, disappointment over the sequel apparently being canned? If you haven't seen it, ask anything about it. I'm sure us hardcore 'Saints' fans would love to tell you all about it.

I think shopgirl has it all wrong. I am a 23 year old woman and Boondock Saints is my favorite movie. I don't believe that it ever played in theaters, although it definitely should have. I heard about the movie from a friend, who heard about it from a friend, etc.
Boondock Saints truly taps into everyone's secret desire for vigilantism. It has plenty of comedy, drama, action and flare to it. I love the way the film was put together. We see the action, and then we see the story behind it. I have always hoped for a sequel, and will be extremely disappointed if one is not produced.

Thank you. There is more than just violence going on here.

It's definitely what most people would consider a "guy" movie, and most of its audience is probably male, but that doesn't mean women can't enjoy it. I'm a 70 year old female and I really enjoy that type of movie if it's well done. The Transporter is another one along the same lines that I thought was fun.

That's a really crazy movie. Lots of fun if you like plenty of action and a whacked out sense of humor. Any scene with Willem Dafoe has to be my favorite. There isn't any kind of weird role he won't take on. One of my favorite actors.
I hadn't heard anything about a sequal, but if it was canned, that might not be a bad thing. Most sequals turn out to be a disappointment.

They are still in line to do the sequel, same writer/director and cast as the original, but it got held up in court due to lawsuits or something.

I really liked Boondock Saints. I thought it was well done and very interesting and the way the brothers stuck together was cool. I remember another similar movie, Reservoir Dogs, which wasn't nearly as good.

'Resevoir Dogs', done by the highly over-rated Quentin Tarantino and almost directly stolen from a Japanese movie (I believe, could be Chinese) that I don't remember the name of right off the top of my head, had a very violent plot and highly entertaining style, but it lacks in the overall vision and question to society that 'Saints' has.

Two brothers, who basically squat in a rundown building and are not typical heroes, get into a bar fight with the Russian mobsters that trash and are trying to close down the bar they hangout at, owned by a cool old guy with torrettes syndrome. The Russian mobster come back for revenge on the them and they end up killing the mobsters. After getting a page about a meeting of Russian mob bosses, they decide to kill them since they are evil men anyways. This starts a series of events that have them going after the Italian mobsters, also. Plus, Willem DeFoe plays a VERY interesting cop that starts to go after 'the Saints', but he ends up helping them.
