How to speed up dial-up?

We have finally made the move to Tennessee and to my complete shock, my husband has moved us 10.5 miles from town, in the bottom of a hollow, in the literal middle of a forrest. No kidding.
It has taken two weeks to get the phone company to hook up telephone and internet service and while I am grateful to have internet service again, we are too far out to have DSL. I am currently stuck with dial-up and all though I have downloaded SBC's accelerator, the slowness is driving me MAD!
Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can speed it up?
While SBC does not offer dsl in this area, is there a company that I can turn to who might offer high speed through the phone lines? I have no loyalty to SBC and would be happy to switch phone, internet and the whole shabang to a company that can offer what I need.
If not, how do I speed it up without freezing the pages?

A few things that I can suggest:
Is cable offered in your area? Might want to check that out. If not satellite might be offered as well (might be expensive too).
If you are unable to get either of those, a few tips and tricks to speed up the process so to speak:
1. try to get the shortest phone cord you can from the back of your computer to the jack in the wall.. the longer the cord, the worse of a connection (also the more likely you will get dropped connections).
2. make sure you clean your cookies often - that will help with browsing sometimes - to many cookies can cause a slower browser and often make a computer freeze. Also make sure you are up-to-date on software and from microsoft.
3. Ask your dialup service if they have a variety of dial up numbers. Sometimes you can get a better connection on one number and a bad connection on another. Try different ones often as well as some might be jammed up.
Most of the webaccelorators don't work so I wouldn't bother with them.. Other then those things I suggested there might not be much else.
By the way, I use to do tech support for Earthlink dialup.. So these are some of things we use to do to help.
Good luck!

But think of the advantage you have with nature and not having to deal with city life... You are making the sacrifice of high speed but making it up with the open nature..... =)

I'm not knocking nature. It is beautiful out here. The problem I am having is that I work online and now it's taking twice as long to get anything done. So I am losing time with my family as well as pushing deadlines to the limit which is not something I'm happy with.

Dial up internet is inherently slow...also you are far from your telecommunication office.....so no way to speed up your
internet.Search for an ADSL service of internet...if available in your area, problem will be solved.
