Okay, I know this is a bit of a difficult thing to quantify - but if you had to choose one author as the number one author of all time, who would it be and why? List a couple if you can't make up your mind.
I would choose Fyodor Doestyevsky. His writings expose humanity, and the general nature of people in such a vivid and thought-provoking way that they end up being entirely engaging and moving.
Close runners up: Kurt Vonnegut, Robert A. Heinlein.

Mmmm, classic! His works really are brilliant, especially if you understand the context that they were written in. Too many people fail to see the humour in his writings due to them being written so long ago.

Never a big fan of Shakespeare. I thought he tried to be too fancy when simple lines could have worked. What are some of your favorite plays?

I used to read a lot but then i gave up!bevcause of lack of interest or due to work.
after a few years a friend wanted me to read one of the sidney sheldon novels ,it was The Sands of time.
I liked it and again developed the interest in reading .
so I owe it to SIDNEY SHELDON Joeffery Archer is also good in my opinion

To me Dean Koontz is the best and also Stephen King. Both of them are my favorite authors.

Dean Koontz
I love his style of writing and he is so imaginative! Watchers and Lightning are my favorites!

I like a good bit of Koontz's stuff. One book about a kid who could "walk where the rain isn't" sticks out as being really good - eye of something? I can't remember.
Thanks for the input!

I read the writings of Norman Vincent Peale and i found it really motivating, inspiring and has the potential to change you in some ways if you habitually read his writings. It can make you a better person if you try reading some of his books, full of wisdom and knowledge.

Hmm, I've heard his books are more or less one big reccomendation for self-hypnosis. Not my bag, but more power to you.

Personally i mostly read business books and self help books. This makes a choice as to the best author difficult so lets put John Maxwell first with a runner up of Zig Ziggler and JiM Roan
