Have you ever been WebStalked??

Have you ever met a person online, thought you hit it off, then found out that they were a raving lunatic nutjob? Did they follow you all over the net pestering you every day? What do you do when you have a webstalker? Is there a way to make them go away without having to get so verbally abusive that it may cause the psycho nutjob to stop webstalking you an stalk you for real?

I just ignore them online and they will stop bothering you.

I wonder how long one would have to do that to a stubborn person who refuses to acknowledge that she is the offender in the situation and that her company is no longer wanted...

It isn't quite as easy as "ignoring" a stalker, that's what they get the title!

Well, i will say that cyberstalkers are more easily ignored than in-your-neighborhood stalkers.

well no but I did meet a guy online before. He was from my area and we were the same age. Well he was a little older. We knew a lot of the same people so I agreed to meet him. What a mistake that was. I mean I was only like 16-17 at the time. I took like 14 mini thins before I left and he came to pick me up. He wasnt that bad looking but not really my type. We went back to his trailer which was foul and smoked this dirt a$$ weed. I drank a bottle of champagne to myself. We never spoke again but he was such a dirtball.

Fortunately nothing like that has happened to me. I think if it did I would first tell them to go away and leave me alone. If that didn't work, I'd probably look at changing my email, etc. I don't think getting verbally abusive is the answer. I think that could esculate things into something worse. I sure hope you're not having that problem!!

No, thank God, the problem is not mine. It is happening to a friend of mine who is too nice to tell the person to bug off and get a grip. I suggested he block her email address and ignore her otherwise, but it doesn't seem to be working. I don't think he would be in any physical danger, there is a continent and an ocean between them. Thanks for stopping by, Melanie. Hope you never have to experience cyberstalking :)

Actually yes I have - though not on MyLot. I am a member of quite a few tennis forums, as tennis is my biggest passion in life, - and through one of those, I met this young lad who wanted to chat about tennis with me. Trouble was - I soo fund out he had developed a "crush" on me, and when I tld him I was far too old for him, and in a relationship anyway, he turned really nasty. He stalked me for about 18 months, following me around these Forums, sending me abusive, and sexist PMs, and also spreading rumours about my private life. He was banned from all the boards, but he managed to get hold of my private email address, and hassled me though that too, and also some of my friends who stood up for me. I had to change my email, and my home phone number just in case. It was quite scary because he is also from the UK (living not so far from me - just a couple of hours drive) - and I was very worried for a while. Anyway - eventually it all quietened down - haven't heard of him for about 6 months now. I like to think it is all over. I wish your friend luck with her problem.

I'm sorry you had to go through that, Rosie. I bet that was frightful for you being the stalker was nearby geographically. I'm glad he didn't follow you here and ruin your MyLot experience. Unfortunately, this is happening to my friend her at MyLot, only she is a He and the stalker is in fact a She. I don't think it's a matter of fear, just an annoyance. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

I sincerely hope he never comes to MyLot. That would be too dreadful. Must admit I do kaap an eye out - guess that kind of thing makes you wary and nervous. Hope your friend works everything out.

Hmmm venting would mean airing my dirty laundry here, that isn't my style BUT. The person involved, if you see this either get a life or everyone gets to find out :)

Ok then, let's kill some time waiting for advice on this matter. I'll start a story about a webstalker and we can each do a couple lines back and forth and see what kind of far-fetched insanity we can come up with to entertain ourselves and any readers that happen by. There was a young lady named Sonja. She was surfing online one day and ended up in a conversation with a young man that was not only in the same line of internet marketing but appeared to have a nice personality.... (psst: your turn, i have another phone conference)

you two again... haha... i did have.. he's just for friend at first, then later he liked me... later he's obsessed, every post i made in each site i had opinions or discussions, he stalks them and he'll tell me he found out of something and etc.. i was very pissed, because its our private life, we are not that famous that we'll have some paparazzi around checking every bit of our thing we do online.. weww... kinda annoying, but maybe they are just sick or shall i say, obsessed and inlove.. like...^_^ like him.. to you... so take care...both of you.^_^

Hi, vehaileairu :) How long did this guy bother you? If you found a way to get rid of him tastefully, we'd like to know about it. Thanks for stopping in and sharing your cyberstalking experience tho :)

Well, I refuse to hide under a cyber rock so I throw some of their own medicine at them. Dig up dirt on them, search their email addresses to see where they post, forums they belong to etc. Oh lord I could write a book about places to search for info about people. Being stalked isn't fun. If someone is harassing you to the point that you debate whether to turn the computer on or not, maybe it's time to call in some reinforcements and call the cops.

I have and I learned a big lesson, don't ever think that they won't make the distance to travel to actually try to get near you because in my case this happened and he actually joined my college where I was at and everything, bumped into me, more than a few times and stole my favourite pink knickers, but since he is my husband now it don't matter...
