Slavery in Africa.

I think it's a crisis to have Africans as slaves. In mauritania slavery of africans by other africans is still a reality;where they are handed down from generations to generations. The government's efforts to halt slavery has failed......

I really feel sorry for those Africans slaves.I think the government should do an effort to discourage this slavery in their country.Countrymen should love and respect their fellow countrymen in order to have a harmonious way of living.

This is terrible. Not a well publicized situation here in the United States. It is terrible that families are handed down from generation to generation. I just don't understand how a government can't find a way to stop this!

My husband is from Mauritania and there is nothing more that I want then to abolish the slavery. But sadly, the government there, like most African countries, is corrupt. Until they can uncurrupt the government, then there is not much that can be done. If I remember correctly they have wrote laws against it, but really don't enforce them. It's a sad situation.
