Naming Our Pets

I am curious to know how people decide on a name for their pets...esp. their dogs and cats. What kind of names do you choose when naming your pets?
My current dogs are named Honey and Priscilla, and my cats name is Greta. I'd love do hear the names others have chosen.

We have three dogs Duke , Brandy and TaTa. Duke and Brandy were already named when we got them . So was TaTa but her the other people called her Sasha. She didn't answer to that name to well.I said TaTa to her one day when she was running away in play and she answered to that so we have called her that ever since.

Hi Kiss, Did you get your dogs by rescueing them? Just wondered since you said they all were named prior to getting them. I know our cat was from the SPCA and her name was already Greta. Also our Sheltie that we got was 8 months old when we got her and she too had already been named so I didn't change her name either since she was very nervous about being changed to a different home.

Seti - the overseer to the pharoahs was my beautiful himalayan cat the got out and never came back a year ago.
I have sheeba after the african queen and she is black
I have junior seti and sheeba's son
I have pearl who is all white
and the stray cat the came to our home and decided she wasn't leaving,
we call her zarra

Sorry to hear about your cat that got out. What a shame that you never got it back. You certainly have quite a variety of names for your cats winterose. How did you choose those names?

My dogs name was Petey...I don't know how I picked that name but it suited him perfectly...he passed away last year.
Our cats name is Morgana. She was named from a character in the Elvira movie. Alot of ppl like her name b/c it's so unusual.
Alot of times when I name a pet it is from a movie I like or a book. They all mean something to me.

hi
i mainly think that ppl name their puppy based on its look
it might also depend on the mentality of the person who own that puppy
for example i have a psyco friend he named his puppy as ghost but it realy looks chubby nd cute
so i think these r the main factors on which puppies name would depend on
