Shoud you drink Brandy when you have frostbite? The Saint Bernard with the little cask around its neck is a great image, but drinking alcohol to warm yourself or to prevent frostbite doesn’t make any medical sense. Alcohol actually can be dangerous in these situations because it adversely affects circulation, enourages heat loss, and impairs shivering. The Saint Bernard could dig you out of a snowbank, however, and you could always share a drink back at the lodg

As I live in Georgia I don't think I'll have any need for a frostbite remedy but thanks for the tip.

We know so much more now than we did in the olden days. It probably was a bit to not down you but to revive you a bit for the journey to the lodge. You have your information correct. Just remember the time it was done. We do things differently now. Love St Bernards.

When it's excessively cold , a drink can help to generate some heat inside the body, but during a frostbite drinking does negatively affect our blood circulation. It's definitely not on.By the way, wish you a very happy birthday.

It doesn't make any difference to me. It neither snows here or is very cold over here, nor do I drink.
