Loud music in work place

Folks, Ahh, its a hot afternoon and you are trying hard to make a presentation for the meeting next morning and suddenly the person two workstation next to you starts blaring some regional music of which you dont understand a word............ Just wanted to share something where people put on music loudly in the work-place. Listening over the iPod or radio over the head-phones will not intrude other colleagues privacy, but what do you think of putting it loudly over your cellphone or small speakers. This makes the other person listen to whatever crap you might be hearing (everyone has a choice of his/her own, right?). So, what do you think of this?

I would say that I would be extremely annoyed and would go and ask the person if he or she could turn the music down. If the person did not comply, then I would take the issue to my supervisor or whomever and have that person address it. I have been in your situation and it was very hard to get anything done. My sympathy. I hope you get this addressed and resolved. I'm not so nice when someone else is stopping from doing my job. Good luck!

I sympathize with you. Because when you politely ask people to turn the music down, somehow YOU end up looking like the bad guy. It's crazy. But you have to stand up for yourself, or people like that will do it all the time. I had a co-worker who wore headphones, but sang along with the music, with the rap music!

Thanks you response. And know what the very next day I posted this, I came to know the person putting on the music is going to some other location (atleast far enough that I can not hear the music anymore).
