Hi everyone! I am now wide awake at 4:00am. I was woke up by the sound of the rain and the thunder. I turned to my husband and asked him if he put the windows up on his truck. He said he didn't know. Well I decided I would go check....
As I was rising out of bed I heard a loud crashing sound. I though what the heck? I just thought it was a tree limb knocked down and I looked out the window. As I peered out there were thousands more crashing sounds and I saw the white balls of ice falling from the sky. It was so neat yet scary. It lasted for a good five minutes before it stopped. I am glad I was still in the house when it started. We got hail between the size of marble and golf ball. This is the largest I have ever seen! I will post the rest of the photos on my profile if anyone would like to see the rest of them.
Have you had hail where you live? What is the biggest hail you have ever gotten? If no hail what is the craziest weather you have ever had?

The past few days has seen some amazing varieties of weather. One moment brilliant sunshine and warm, the next a blizzard with horizontal winds, followed by torrential rain, then frost and we have also had some seriously heavy hail storms two days ago too. Happy Spring - lol

Yes here in the desert the weather changes so quickly too. It can be a nice sunny day 75 degrees and by the afternoon the wind kicks up and blows in a snow storm! I have lived here for 3 years now and I have learned never to count on the weather! I love extreme weather though!

those hail storms can be really dangerous, I don't like them at all. They hurt with they hit your skin, I never really looked at the size of them though.

Yes they can be dangerous. I am glad that everyone was more than likely inside at the time. My husband works outside alot because he is a plumber and I am glad he wasn't working when it happened!

Oh my!!! That would have been enough to send me into a MAJOR panic attack! I am terrified of tornados and bad storms. I hope your house and cars don't have damage!
A few years ago there was hail in the town away from us that was baseball sized!!!Here is the wildest weather I've experianced as an adult. I was freaking out - but thankfully I live in the county right beside (LaRue) the one that got hit the worst. But I work there and lived it that county for years. Here is a good pic that I scaned from the newspaper. It happen on Jan 2, 2006. The tornado nearly compleltely flattened a gas station. The only thing that was left standing was the cooler!!! And luckily that is where all the employees and customers went. I'll attach it in the next post..

Wow. Loved the pictures by the way. Last year in July we got hit with a huge hail storm. Some so big and damaging that a couole car dealers went out of business due to millions of dollars in damage. I saw a chunk on the news the size of a softball. I know a few friends that had their cars totaled due to hail damage. Hope things get better weather wise there. Thanks again for those amazing pics.
HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!

I haven't gone out to check my car yet but my husband said that his truck was fine. I am surprised, when it was comming done it sounded like it was going to break the windows!

I am glad that it didn't. That happened around here a few years back. It ruined the siding on houses and broke windows in the path of the storm.

I have been in several hail storms in Florida. Some the size of dimes and some the size of golf balls! These storms seem to come out of nowhere sometimes. I know a guy who was out in his field when he got pummeled by hail and almost knocked himself out by trying to get back to the house. They were huge and falling down on his head. So, yeah I guess they can be pretty dangerous. Watching the storms can be both frightening and interesting at the same time. Especially if you have a tin roof on your house. Waking up to that in the middle of the night is pretty scary. I remember I thought someone was shooting at our house!

Yes he wasn't too happy and had a head ache for a couple of days after, but at least he made it inside fairly safely! We told him from now on he should consider his field a hard hat area. LOL

Hailstorms are not common in my area, but they did hit a few years back. Nothing serious. Looked like white marbles. But, I was traveling through N.Mexico a few years ago in a RV. Oh my gosh, out of no where a huge one hit. The hail was as big as golf balls and dented the truck like crazy. We could not even hear eachother to talk in the front seat. It smashed some windows too. They are really dangerous, and we just pulled over the side of the road until it was finished, about 30 minutes. Were you guys safe and okay? I marked your post a + rating, as it is very good. Blessings dear.

We have had hail storms, but none larger than a small marble. I couldn't imagine hail the size of a golf ball landing on our vehicles. How about walking in this storm without something to protect yourself. That would freak me out.

I do hope that no one was out in this storm last night. There are a lot of homeless people here and I hope that they all had shelter last night.

Good heavens, that sure is such a huge piece of hail! I can imagine the noise it would have created. We recently had hail here too put it wasn't so huge. It was half the size you are holding and it was noisy too..hehe! It lasted only for a couple of minutes but the rain was pelting down hard at the same time. I can't remember the worst weather we've had here at Dallas, has to be the rains and thunderstorms.

Wow That is some hail
We went to pick my brother up in Toronto (long time ago) He was going to work with my hubby all summer and do a paper on my kids for university.
At any rate it was storming soooo bad Heavy hail, thunder and lightening. turned the radio on and all we heard was someone had predicted the end of the earth for that day Needless to say we turned it off LOL
A huge hydro blew up right beside us Hit by lightening Say a convertible parked under an underpass putting the hood down LOL He 4 huge holes through the top WOW
Talk about scary LOL
Another time I was coming home from grannies house 2 hour drive Rained soo hard Every town I went thru had no hydro The water on the highway was deep It stalled my car. I sat there for few minutes and glanced out the window What I saw scared sh-t out of me Coming straight towards where I was parked was tornado
I freaked out. Begged the car to start Said my prayers and low and behold it started I was shaking like a leaf
Took over 4 hours for me to get home Hubby was in panic mode Was rounding up friends to come find me when I pulled in
Insane both times and I don't scare easy

We have got a lot of snow this year, more than we usually get but it's starting to melt FINALLT lol...I want summer real bad and my patience is running a tad bit thin...Take Care and stay safe !!!

Wow that would be scarey, I'm pleased you had not gone outside as the hail would have been quite hard landing on your head. We have experienced very large hailstones in my hometown, and surprisingly enough only the other day out of a reasonable fine day we had hail about the size of small marbles and I thought that was quite strange as usually it is very black in the sky. We also experience a lot of electrical storms and they are the ones I loathe, I hide under blankets or pull down the blinds when they happen while I am home alone.

At my parents house in 1999 we had a small tornado that ripped the roof off a shed complete with all the iron beams and thigns it weighed a tonne and carried 20 metres to our front door the noise was like thunder or somthing we didnt know what it was till we loked out the window it was a really stormy night with strong winds to lots of trees were fallen to I live in Scotland so this is not what we usally get.
This year we had lots of power cuts due to the weather at new year we were at my parents house again and were giong to go home when the power went out we had to travel in two cars because of the number of us myself hubby and kids on the way home trees had fallen and the side on the shore road was really high and starting to come on to the road but we got home and when my dad got nearly home the tide was across the road but he tried to drive threw it and the car got stuk so he had to walk home my brother staoped before the water and happened to get a life home from a guy in a truck.
At home my mum got a fright when a widow shattered somthing must have hit it there was glass alll over the place she was not hurt .
That is our weater experience over the years living in scotland at the foot of a glen and not far from the sea we get a mix of things.

We have had hailstorms where we live, but not as big as yours. I am so glad that you didn't go out there a couple of minutes before. That would not have been gentle.

I don't remember having any here, but yes ice storms in winter are very common and most of the time people were warned already so there was not too many accidents unless the ones who don't watch the news or listen to the radio I think

I've seen hail every once in a while. Yes hail in CALIFORNIA. *L*. More recently in the area we moved to, which gets more rain they we ever got in Orange County area. Well it was raining REALLY hard one night. My sister and me were about 10 mint from home and it started hailing. It wasnt big stuff just size of pebbles but enough to be freaky. Its really scary driving in hail of any size. Up until then I saw on occasion while in the house and looked out. Freaky stuff.
That one you had in your hand (?) it looked the size of a golf ball. WOW. I know they can get bigger too. Glad you are safe and stuff.

We used to get hail sometimes in the UK, but just tiny little ones. I hate any kind of storm though and thunderstorms in particular make me want to soil myself LOL! (Gross I know!)
Anyway, a couple of years ago, myself and my partner were at a baseball game at the park where he worked for his father. My partner was an umpire. It had been hot and humid for days and breathing was like breathing through Pea Soup. As I sat and watched them setting things up, I'd been hearing rumbles, but thought it was trucks going by on the main road. Then I gradually realized that these rumbles seemed to be getting louder. As my partners Dad walked past I stopped him and asked if it was Thunder I'd been hearing or trucks. He said Thunder, but it'll probably bypass us.
Five minutes later, the game started. The clouds began to gather, and 30 minutes into the game, we were all soaked to the skin and I was frozen to the spot with fear.
Lightning flashed constantly, the thunder roared, and everyone was asking me if I was okay lol. I really wasn't. The game had been called off, and we all made a mad dash for the double garage up the top of the parking lot.
The storm went on for a good hour. As scared as I was I have to admit I've never seen anything so spectacular in all my life! The fury of an angry Mother Nature is incredib;e!
