I have a very big problem and I need your help and suggestion. My son is already eight yrs. old but he still wet in his bed. I have tried waking him up in the middle of the night to pee but it did not work. I tried to limit his water or liquid intake when the clock hits 5 pm but also did not work. Can u suggest a way to help my kid not wet in bed. Thanks.

i have this same problem with my grandson its not uncommon, firstly i make shre he goes to the bathroom before he goes to bed and i usually wake him before i go to bed which is about three hours later, i then wake him again at about 3 am i'm usually awake myself at that time so he goes to the bathroom again, if found this helps a great deal i know its not always the best way with disrupting a sleeping pattern. I also try and limit his fluid intake after 6 pm and i've stopped leting him have coke drinks or carbonated drinks as much as possible, we have a reward system in place where for every dry night he has a reward and is allowed to use this as he wishes at the end of each month i've not resorted to medication yet as he has a kidney problem si its unwise for him to retain fluids as present we maybe get two wet beds a week which is brilliant as before i took action it was every night hope this helps good luck tc

Your grandson is very lucky to have great grandma like you. Not many parents, including myself, can match your dedication. I am going to see if giving my son reward would work for him. On the other hand, I hope and pray that your grandson's kindney problem be healed. Thank you so much.

Do you have the area well lit? I used to be a bed wetter when i was a kid and my mom solved the issue by lighting up my room, the hall and the bathroom. So that i would wake up and remember to go. It helped alot. Apperently i wouldent leave my room if it was dark.. and the funny thing is, im still not comfortable in compleat darkness.

Make sure that before he goes to bed he had already pee. This can help him avoid from wetting in the bed.

I don't know if this works or not, but I read that if your child has this problem have him eat raisins before he goes to bed. Can't hurt trying.
Also, don't freak about this. It is common with a lot of older kids.

Don't stress him.
I spoke to my pediatrician, because my son is nearly five and still wetting the bed. They said that sometimes an average boy will not stop bedwetting until eight, and she had even had a high schooler who still we the bed.
It is an inconvience, but it is important to remember that it is not the kids fault. He is simply not waking up, and no amount of punishment can change that. The pediatrician actually warned me that too much presure can make the problem worse.

Eureka! This could be it! My son is going through a lot of stress lately because it is their finals week at school. This could be one reason why he wets in his bed almost everyday since last week, he could be in a lot stress. Thanks for the info. I will further observe my son.
