I know there are a few sites out there that except used items such as Ebay. But, I also know there are alot of people who enjoy having yard sales at home. The first yard sale I participated in was last year. Our apartment complex have a yard sale. I really enjoyed myself also met alot of the communities residents within the complex. Do you enjoy having yard sales? How often do you have them? Do you enjoy going to yard sales? Do you feel that sites like Ebay will overpower yard sales and eventually they will become extinct or just not as many?

I have had about 4 yard sales in total and Yes I did sell some stuff but people want everything for nothing, I've had everything ready and it'll rain, or I've also held the sale when I didn't realize there was something else going on, so in other words I think my selling has come to an end. I am going to try to sell on Ebay soon. I used to go to nearly every yard sale in town but man there comes a time when you just don't have room for any more junk, that's me. Are you up for a good yard sale story ? It's kind of funny now, but not at the time. I was going from one yard sale to the other and I came to this one where absolutely nothing was priced and no one around so I just hung around and a couple other people came, they said they didn't think they were interested in any of this stuff about the time the owner came along. I was checking out a couple things I was interested in and the owner said, "Lady what the hell are you doing ?" I said well this is a yard sale isn't it?" He said in a loud voice, "NO I'm moving" LOL

First off, Yard sales are the best!!! I am really big into having yard sales. Pretty much anything that I don't need anymore goes into a box in my garage. I enjoy having them because it gets me out of my house to enjoy the fresh air. Plus I have met a lot of nice people having yard sales. Some of which will stop by at later yard sales not really to buy anything, but just to say HI and see how my family and I are doing. If you live in a nice community. Yard sales can be a very good way to meet new neighbors. Sometimes my neighbors and I will cordinate a neighbor yard sale. We all pick a weekend and everyone sets up what they have. It's a lot of fun. I also live a very busy street which helps. How often do I have yard sales? Um... I try to have them as often as I can. Probably about 6 a year I would say. It all depends on how much stuff I have accumilated in my garage. I try not to have them to close together because I don't do as good. Then of course sometimes I have them on a spur of the moment. I am not too much into going yard saleing. If I am driving by and something catches my eye I will stop. But most of the time I am on my way somewhere and just don't have the time to stop. I think the last time I actually planned a day to go yard saleing was when I was pregnant with my 4 year old son. I was on a very tight budget at that time so I went to find baby stuff. Last, Not to sure on the whole ebay thing. I don't think it will have an impact on people having yard sales. Me personally I would rather have a yard sale where I don't have to worry about shipping things verse using sites like ebay and having to ship the item to the person. Hope my answers helped!!! Have a great day!!!

I don't think that I have ever bought anything from a yard sale, and we've definitely never had one. But it is interesting to have a look around, which I do sometimes.

We have jumble sales and boot sales here, and now that spring is on its way, then I will be going to these to see if I can find some bargains. I guess there will always be these sales, not everyone goes to eBay

That's true, It's hard for me to find a yard sale. I guess being I'm don't really go into other subdivisions around my area. I normally go to Ebay.

I haven't been to a good yard sale in almost a year which when our apartment complex had one. Seems like there are not as many around here as I've seen in my past..

I shop at yardsales, constantly, and love every minute of it. You never know what you will find, and you meet the most fantastic people! I saw a yardsale yesterday, the first of the season. I'm soooo ready! lol As for e-bay taking over, I vote no. They charge too much to list your stuff on e-bay, and there's just something personal about shopping local and meeting all the nice people at yardsales, that I don't think will allow yardsales to become extinct.

havent experienced that here in our place...having yard sales i think is ok but limited only on the area it was sold..however ebay is globally seen or reach through internet..so anyone can access and see those on sale..nope i think they wont overpower yardsales..since its scope is different from them as what i have stated above..

1) I love to have yard sales 2) About twice a year 3) I love going more than having one 4)No ..yard sales wil be aquick easy way for people to get rid of unwanted things fast and right from home. I have used ebay a couple of times now but I don't think that they will ever oust the yardsales...because its so easy to just put everything right out in your front lawn and sell it ...no waiting instant cash ...lol I have seen a decline in flea markets and to me thats what i really think is happening that Ebay has a better oprotunity for people than flea markets anymore ...not as many people gp to flea markets like they used to ...I don't go to them as much because so many of them have just started selling cheap new stuff for a dollar and its worthless junk ...I like the old flea markets where you can wheel and deal and maybe find some different things ...or antiques...

We held a yard sale one day, but that didn't go as well as we had planned. I personally don't like shopping at them. It just gets annoying after awhile. I'm not the type of person that can do it all day and haggle and everything for the best deals. I'd rather stay at home.

I have had one since we have been in this house...only sold one thing for 5.00- and was mad I had to put everything away again....I don't like doing them. I do agree sometimes you can find some great suff at other people's sales- like antiques, etc..

I have never ben to a yard sale or organised one, but it sounds like fun to be there. You could meet so many people you know and hear their opinion on the products put up.It's not possible to have so much fun and bargain a lot while shopping at a mall or shop, lol.I think sites like ebay have definitely pushed down the number of yard sales ,but it won't make them disappear because people won't have to pay fees to a third party or have to pay for handling and shipping and to me, it definitely sounds like more fun, lol.

that's true, at a yard sale there are no shipping and handling fees or none of that. I have been to a few not very many though

I'm a yard sale addict. My sister got me hooked. She buys to sell on eBay. When we bought a new home there were things that I needed so I started going to yard sales with her and so the story goes. I have found a lot of things that I had on my want list that I couldn't afford to purchase new but could buy at yard sales. Yea, it yard sale season again.

I like to do both, but have more fun going ot yard sales and buying then I do having my own yard sale. We only have a yard sale every couple of years because it takes alot of work and time to do one and do it correctly. I would rather go to a yard sale and buy something that will be in one of my yard sales in a few years. lol As far as eBay, I think that they are the ones fueling a lot of people to go to yard sales to find that rare old record or the Declaration of Independance hiding behind a oil painting.

Yes I love going to yard sales. I am a yard sale shopper. I have found some great buys at yard sales. I also try and have one at least once a year. It is a great way to get rid of some of your gently used items and make some extra cash. I have found some antiques along the way for hardly anything. :)

No way. I hate yard sales. My son's grandmother on the other. Gets most of her christmas shopping and birthday shopping done by buying things at yard sales

I am a shopper and seller, I go to them all the time in the summer and I have gotten such good deals at them. I also have had tag sales in the past both for myself and non profits I work for. I raised over 800.00 for a non profit last summer in one yard sale. I don't think ebay will ever overtake a good old fashion yard sale either, it is so much easier to do one in your front yard for typical every day items.

I love love love Garage Sales. They should be starting up in about a month or so. I got some amazing stuff last year. Now I don't have one of my own because we have a local classified site where I live (it's online) and I post stuff with pictures and sell stuff really fast that way. I like doing that much more then having a sale. This way I can do it all year long. Just a little story for you. About two weeks ago I saw a posting from this guy who said everything you see on this table for 10.00. Well he had a really deep skillet with a lid and that is primarily what I wanted because I needed a new one and they are so expensive. Anyways I contacted him and went to his house. Well he had 3 boxes waiting for me. I gave him the 10.00 and I couldn't wait to get home and go through them. Well I must have taken 8 or so different things out for me. He had pyrex dishes, mirrored coasters, those magnetic dusters, etc...... Anyways the next day I started posting the stuff that was in the box and in the end I made about 50.00 dollars. Can you imagine, paying 10.00 getting what I wanted and then making 40.00 profit. That was so much fun.

I've never been a seller, but I've shopped at many yard sales. I enjoy finding good deals. I think ebay is a great thing, but it'll never overpower the yard sale. Too many people don't use the net, and for some junk, there's just too much work involved to list it. But someone will stop and give you a dime for it without a problem.

I love going to yard sales, I hate having them though. Yard sales are fun if you like treasure hunts, my kids love going too. You never know what you will find, and it makes the kids and my hobbies so much cheaper then going to the craft stores. As for Ebay overpowering I don't think so, why would you want to pay ebay .35 to sell something for .25 and who would want to pay $20 shipping plus you bid or something you could pick up new at Walmart for a couple bucks.
