please dont take me for an idiot could any one please inform me what are the stars that appear at the top or beside the name of a person who responds to the discussion in mylot.

The star comes with the number inside. That number is your rating from 1 to 10, 10 being the best. When you reach 100 posts, you will see your star and rating. ;-)

it's the person's rating. you rate responses and discussions plus or minus, and the average shows in the star. also, try searching your topic next time; i know there are others who have asked this question and the search feature allows you to search mylot for these topics :) good luck around here.
