What do you guys from the US REALY think about the UK?

I suppose it is the idea of the history for many in the USA they have ancestors who are English, and well the country is still fairly young in comparison to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. I think it could also be due to the fact that it is different, the idea of something different is exciting to many people. Some psychologist say that it is due to the historic connection in the US roots, that people still have that kind of feeling for elevating self, that comes from the idea of British anscestry. Many people who can trace their heritage back do so with great pride. I personally would like to go to Ireland, and I suppose that makes sense since my grandfather was Irish.

I find the UK so interesting because it's my heritage. My mom is from Scotland and when we go back and see the house she grew up in, the school she walked to, etc. it amazes me. Plus everything is so different, the sizes of the houses and cars, the food, everything. I also think it has a lot to do with history. The US is a very new country. We don't have the old builgings, the historic sites, the history that other countries do. And my last point is this: Braveheart... need I say more?

Well both of you are right. As for me I love UK especially the country side. It was long time ago way back in 1980. I was 19 yrs old and felt very excited when I first landed at Heathrow airport.I was on a year course at Britania Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, UK.I stopped over in London for a week before reporting to the college.One thing I would like to share, I could walk during the day and night alone safely that time. I don't know whether it is safe to do that now ? Last but not least, Travelling places are just like eating. Its all depent on each individual taste. Some like some don't. What ever you are right !
