Who was in the delivery room when you gave birth?

This morning I was reminded of a funny situation when I gave birth to my youngest son. The room was dark, it was about 4 AM, my husband was by my side, there was the doctor and a few nurses (I don't remember how many). After my son was born and the doctor was finishing up what she was doing and my mother-in-law said something from the darkest corner of the room where she had been sitting for hours, the doctor almost jumped through the ceiling. I don't even think the nurses remembered that she had been there, it was so funny, I'm just glad the doctor was finished and didn't have a needle or scissors or anything in her hands. Anyone else have a story about who was with them in the delivery room?

First baby born at home with hubby there. Second baby was born on the bathroom floor with a nurse to help me. Third baby was born in the car, 2 kids in the back and hubby driving. That has been the way for the entrance of my children in the world. Good thing I have babies easy and don't have the problems like others seem to have.

When I delivered my first baby, my doctor (OB-Gyne) and anesthesiologist were there of course in the delivery room and some nurses. My hubby was there also for support. No other relatives were allowed inside the delivery room. After 4 years then, when I was due to deliver my 2nd baby, I was accompanied by my 2 sisters in the hospital because hubby is working in other country. I felt alone when hubby is not there with me, although my 2 sisters were there in the room, they are not allowed in the delivery room. Both of my deliveries took long hours of laboring, so painful... I made up my mind, my 2 sons are enough for me.

When I had my first and third child no one was with me in the delivery room due to emergency c-sections. With my second, it was my husband and my fourth, my best friend.

With my youngest daughter, I never even made it to the delivery room.. LOL.. I lived out of town and spent almost 2 hours in the back of an ambulance to get to the closest hospital. By the time we got there, my daughter was on her way out. The doctor didn't think I'd even make it upstairs so he just had me brought into the emergency room. Everybody was there. And they didn't even have time to pull the curtains. My whole family was there because I'd called them before I'd left for town. A couple of nurses who were on duty. Some guy a couple beds over with a broken leg got to see the whole show as well.. LOL.. It was just too much fun for everyone.. LOL..

I have four kids. The last delivery I has I was alone. No family, was in the room. Only my doctor and the nurses. I wanted it that way. I called my dad, my sister to let them know he was here but everyone else heard it by someone else. The reason I did it was not because I wasn't proud about giving birth, but I went through so much criticism that I felt no need in "spreading the news" His dad was in jail at the time, and my mom and I were really not talking, and my dad lives out of town, and me and my sisters weren't really talking either. But I would do it the same way all over again. My first son, my mom and I was there, I was 15 so the dad was hiding. My other two kids, their dad was in the room and got all of the afterbirth and juices all in his face (smile) He has other children but for some reason he was just so "amazed" I thought he was going to passout or something. But he's very supportive of me and our children.

about ten minutes bafore my eldest daughter was born the doctor asked me did i mind the student doctors watching. i was in no fit state to argue with him and in marched 10 students. one of them fainted and i was livid at the invasion.they should have asked me earlier and given me a chance to refuse. i still cringe when i think of it.

I went into labor on my birthday, October 29th of last year and didn't even know it. I went in because I thought I had the flu and decided I was not in hard labor yet and went home for a few hours. My now ex, the baby's father took me to the hospital the second time and the doctor decided to break my water. I had already decided that my best friend would come in as well and we called her at 9pm to tell her to come in after awhile because I wasn't progressing very much. We called back an hour later to tell her to hurry up that I was almost ready to push. I had my daughter at 24 minutes after midnight (oct 30th)! I'm very glad she was there and she was so very excited and honored to be allowed. Another friend heard I was having the baby and was waiting in the hall and came in when she heard the baby cry.

With my first baby, only my husband was in the room with me because my mother had stepped out of the room for awhile. She literally missed him being born by about 5mins. I labored all night and she was there through that but missed the actual birth. With my second child that was just born in Dec. my mother and husband were both there and that was neat, while me and my husband concentrated on me giving birth, my mom actually took pics of me giving birth for my pregnancy scrapbook album. I thought at first it would have been wierd, but when your in the middle of giving birth you dont remmeber it at all and you want to...so now I cherish those pictures because that is definately a time you can never redo with the same child.

Well, I dont know if I qualify to answer as I havn't had any children, however, I was in with my sister when she gave birth to my niece. My sister is a single Mum so she had no partner to have in with her. Also, our mum had just passed away a few months earlier so she had both her sisters in there with her. She had a quick labour (only 3-4 hours) and I got to cut the cord. It was a very special moment and i'm glad I got the chance to be in there with her.

I was with my Wife for all 3 of my Kids Births. It will always be something I will always remember as each of them were so fast. The Doctor in fact didn't even get there for kid #2 as she was only minutes after we went in, all he did was walk in and then walk out again. He said afterwards it was the quickest Buck he ever made !!!!!!

I think giving birth is really horrible. I have delivered two kids already and those experiences were really unforgettable. I felt like I was going to die especially during my second delivery. The pain I felt then was the most painful feeling I ever felt in my life. I had more than 24 hours labor.

My birth with my son was a three ring circus. For the labor I had my husband, mother, father, brother, sister, sister's best friend, aunt mary, aunt linda, uncle sid, grandmother, and grandfather. About five hours in they finally kicked everyone out and gave me morphine to calm me down. When my son was actually born there was my husband, mother, and grandmother. It was hillarious. The midwife said, "look, you are crowning." I turned my gaze up to the mirror, and what did I see but the back of my husband, mother, and grandmothers head. I couldn't even see the baby!

When I gave birth to my last child, which was almost 20 years ago, I had a whole lot of people in with me. There was my husband, two doctors, and seven student nurses. I had been in labour for twelve hours so it didn't matter to me how many people were in there. They asked me if I minded the student nurses observing and I said "at this point I don't care, just get the baby out!

My cousin made the mistake of holding his wife's hand through the birth. She squeezed it so hard, that she broke 4 bones in his hand. Needless-to-say, I made sure not to hold my wife's hand during the birth of our daughter. :)
