when you see a homeless person on the corner, or are walking around town and a homeless person comes up to you and asks you to spare your change, have you ever? would you ever?
i have. i've had friends who have lived on the streets at one point or another, some that still do, and i haven't been that far away from it myself. i know how much even a quarter can mean to someone with nothing.
have any of you, or would you, ever help out a homeless person like that?

i love knowing that i helped brighten someone elses day, or that i maybe improved their quality of life a little, if only temporary.
thanks for the response =]

Yes I do give to anyone on the streets who will ask if I can spare some money. I don't ask or care why they need it. I simply give and let God do the judging of the person asking.
Or if they are a stranger in town needing a place to stay, I give them the places they can go to get the help they need.

Nope. Never. I'm not saying that you shouldn't give. But you shouldn't give money directly to homeless people. It could be a scam or they could be going to the nearest bar.
The best way to give is by volunteering your time at a shelter or to give money to a charitable organization. Give your money to a shelter. At least then you know that your money will be put to good use.

i don't. there are a lot of scams and syndicates here that do this for a business and giving money to them, even just a quarter would be supporting their business. i don't like that. i'd rather give to charitable institutions wherein i can see where my money goes, than to those on the streets.

outside the school gate were several kids and they always ask me for a few coins after class. ive known some of the kids there and even though i dont want to spoil them, i still give them some spare change becuase i know that they would needthe money for food. one night i even saw them eating a rice for the 5 pesos that i gave them. there wre 3 kids and its all they have for dinner. after that i see to it that i give them something whenever i see them. who knows, i might be saving their lives for that 5 pesos.
