I love CSI. My question is ar they enhancing the criminal mind though. They show you how people do crimes and how easy it is for them to solve them. Yes, we all know the t.v. speeds up the process, but they are really showing criminals what not to do. To me they tell them what their mistakes are and how to fix it. What do you think?

I think that csi isnt really showing 100 percent how to solve or commit a crime, however what they do show might be enough for some ignorant person to attempt it, and to be honest I wouldnt be at all surprised if it hasnt already happened.I dont think it really matters what a tv shows whether it be to much imfo or just something like Jackass, if someone is stupid enough to "copy" something they have seen on tv then they should suffer the conequences for such actions regardless of what you see on tv, its our own personal responsibility to beaware of what we do and that tv is for entertainment purposes no matter how real it seems.I have seen people blame tv for there problems, children getting in trouble at school for something they seen on south park or beavis and butthead, the truth is, people use anything they can as a scapegoat, everything except taking responibility in teaching there kids right from wrong and people not taking responsibility for there own actions, they just blame the networks for all there problems.I actually find CSI very interesting and I love watching it, to me in a way its educational and you get a look at crime all the way from start to finish and how crime is solved not to mention all the dry humor, I love Grissoms slighty morbid sense of humor.

It is a mixed bag. On the one hand CSI is educational TV for criminals on how to not get caught. On the other hand CSI creates paranoia in the minds of criminals as to the possibility of getting caught. Whether CSI does more harm or good would be hard to say.

I have always wondered about that. I was watching a comedy special on television the other day and the comedian was talking about how CSI persuaded them not to commit a crime as a joke. I thought it was funny, but I believe that it can have that effect. Besides, I think that these talented forensic scientists have enough ways to get evidence that even if criminals were made more aware of the techniques to avoid detection, there are other ways to do it.

I think the stuff they show is pretty common knowledge if you're into such stuff. Criminals are usually pretty intelligent, at least about what they're doing. And a lot of the stuff that they do on TV isn't exactly real. So I don't think it's a problem to go into it. It's stuff the average joe who doesn't kill people might not know...

well you have to think yes,... they are showing you how they did it, but they STILL catch the bad guy in the end, so the bad guy must not have been that good. Ya see? CSI has HOW they catch you, and it shows that the people who REALLY do this job KNOW what they are doing! lol

The underlying message to criminals that the show conveys isn't 'how to commit crime' by any stretch. It's a clear way of showing that no matter how well you may have planned and executed, there's always a way of tracing it back to you. It's just a matter of whether you get a group smart enough to figure it out. Sure, there's a lot of unsolved cases out there, but technology is making it harder and harder for criminals to get away.

I like to watch CSI at times but the cable channels that I have I think at times they show to many of them it seams that every other channel has them or that dang Law and Order on it dont care to much for them.

I've thought about this myself and had the same question. I'm sure a lot of things get left out because it's tv. The show wouldn't be nearly as interesting if the bad guys got away so of course they have to find ways to solve it. But I agree with you, they do seem to share a few too many tricks to help criminals. I'm hoping that they actually leave huge details out otherwise it's more or less a how (not) to manual for the criminals.
