How to find/start a homeschool co-op?

I currently have a homeschool yahoo group that's slowly coming together, but I'd like it to be more than just weekly park get togethers. I'd like to try to have other group members get together for actual lessons and maybe even trade off on the subjects that each member is comfortable with or teach the other kids something that a member is good at (like piano lessons or sewing). Anyone know how to get a group like this started or know how to find a group like this?

I'm a member of a homeschool co-op that started up exactly one year ago this month. It took time during the summer months to get everything organized. We were sponsored by another co-op that met at the same church.
Basically, ground rules were decided, moms were asked what classes they could teach, had a starter meeting to answer questions and to see where everyone stood on what they expected the co-op to be. Ours is an academic co-op versus an enrichment co-op or a co-op for playtime for younger ages.
It takes planning and commitment to do a co-op but it is worth the effort.
