Do you recycle your cans and bottles? Or do you just trash them?

Nowadays the common thing is that in your city there are places that have places to recycle your cans and bottles to earn a few bucks or more. I mean even though it is a few it's good to have. Even the homeless here make a daily struggle packing plastic bags with these cans and bottles to get their money. Where we live we collect them as well and wait about a month or two until we have enough to recycle them. How about you?

I always recycle, and have since the day I first moved out on my own. It's easy where I live. With city garbage, you can get as many recycling containers in the needed size as you want to get rid of recyclables. It's free, whereas garbage is paid for, so everyone (almost) recycles even if they don't care about the environment (which is crazy, because we should all care about the world we live in).

I would recycle them except for the fact that I live in a place where it's hard to store them. if you drink allot of cans or glass products it's really a good idea to recycle. you get about .50c per pound sometimes less sometimes more, all depending on the value currently. but it's again very hard to do this because of where I live. I heard of this guy that makes things out of cans, and bottles in MAINE but have not seen this yet. take care Jon

Actually, our local area doesn't have a recycling center. The closest one is about 2 hours from here AND to make it worth your while you would have to own a trailer or something to haul a large load at a time. I still don't see why we don't have any here yet. As many petitions as have been signed...

We have a huge trashcan that we save our aluminum cans in. Actually I think we have something like 25 or 26 bags of cans. Every few months a guy comes into town who pays for aluminum and we take them there. Our plastic bottles get thrown in the garbage though. We llive in the country and they get burned with our burnables.

oh yes, I do! i keep all the plastic bottles in a sack after we used them and when i get to have at least two full sacks, i take them to the junk shop. i remember earning almost 50 pesos with those two sacks of plastic bottles. the advantage of this is that not only do i get to recycle and earn extra money, i also realize how much money i spend on C2 and Gatorade and mineral water products!

I recycle cans, papers, anything I can. It is so important. I don't do it for any money. My town has a civic recycling center where you can turn in things...also they will pick up some things by your curb.

It takes extra effort to segregate and sort out the recyclable materials, but I think it's well worth it. Not only do you help the environment, you also earn some cash. It's a win-win situation.

I recycle just about everything I can cause it is easy on the environment. We have curbside recycling here. All I have to do is put all the recyclables in bags the garbage service provides and set it out with my reg. garbage.I don't just recycle your basic glass and plasic bottles either. All kinds of plasic wrapping can be recycled as well. Cardboard too. Only thing I don't put out with my recyclables is the aluminum and tin. Those are seperated and take them in for cash twice a year. I own a trailer which allows me to save quite a bit b4 taking them in. The more you have, pound-wise, the more money they pay you. Wish I could take my newspapers, glass, and plastic bottles in for cash but noone around here does that. Basically, if it is foam, wax or wax-coated you can't recycle it. Everything else is recyclable.

its better to practice recycling. in our company, all employees have free sodas in can everyday. imagine the number of trash we're producing in a year for a 100+ employee company. but of course, we don't let our environment to be destroyed. we collect our cans then sell it to the junk shops. by this, our environment will be benefited as well as ourselves by earning money.

We recycle our plastic items and pop cans. I bag it up and take it to the nearest town that offers recycling about once a month. They have recycling bins there that I put it in. I don't get any money for it. I do it because I think recycling is important to do. We can't keep just throwing stuff away in landfills. Earths resources are not unlimited. I think it's important to reduce, re-use and recycle.

We recycle bottles and plastic bottles and paper. Most bottles can be returned for money. All supermarkets have recycling points for bottles and the money can be deducted from your grocery bill. Cans are drawn out the waste with magnets and recycled.

Here in Indonesia, several people are working as self employee, sells the bottles, or any recycleable plastic and cans, where they collects it from home trashes. Some of them are very poor.

Before the recycling centre starts collecting recycle items from households, I throw away cans and bottles since no one wants them, not even the garage collector. I only recycle water bottles by reusing them myself. Now, I just give away anything, any junks, newspapers, bottles, containers etc. to the recycle centre when they come to collect every fortnight.

When I lived in Orange County Florida the county provided us with bins to sort our recycling into and then put them out by the curb on certain days to be picked up. Now that I live in Marion County Florida, and live way out in the country, I don't have that luxury. I sort some recycling but not all. We don't use cans so we don't worry about that. I do recycle plastic bottles and my plastic shopping bags. I have to drive my trash and my recycling to the "dump" station, twice a week, usually. At the dump station they have several bins for people to recycle their bottles, cans, glass, newspaper, magazines and junk mail.
