I have a son that does excellent in school. Does all his homework and does his chores. But man when he starts playing that game he is in another world. Time flys byand he is stuck there. I can see him play that most of the days on weekends or holidays. Yes he does go out and does have friends, but when he goes to their house guess what. He is playing the game system there. I tell him to take a break and rest up. I find him get reeally ped at the game when that happens it is time to shut it off, no more. He is 14yrs, so i think i kind of manage his time on it playing.

My 12 and 15 yr olds (and DH!) can spend HOURS on games. I know that sometimes it takes a while to accomplish a mission or whatever, but I think there really ought to be a stopping point. DH's problem is that he'll want to try just "one more thing" and it'll end up taking 5 tries and another few hours. It's easy to get lost in the time too. I try to limit them to an hour or so at a time, but it doesn't always work. They've got to stop when it's time for meals or to do other things. On occasion it's fine to go longer though.

oh i hear ya. My sons tells me the same thing. But i give him 10 mins where he is done or not, and if he doesn't like it. Well i will just take the game system away and see how he feels about that. The ball is in his court. ITs either end the game or lose it. Usually it ends with him ending the game, but i will give him no more than 3 trys to end it.
