Would you rather have a preacher that has been a holy rollie his whole life, or would you rather have a pastor, preacher, priest; that has been through some dirt and have had some experiences of turmoil and later came to the lord. I was just wondering because most of my favorite pastors have all been through something horible or have lived sinfull lives but are now serving the Lord and doing his work. I like it that way how about you.

My current Pastor is one who actually was a lawyer prior to becoming a Pastor and he is able to give us a lot of good insight about the world instead of just about what the word says.
I have had Priest (when I was catholic) that knew nothing but the bible and would have to say I like listening to the ones that have real life experience a lot more because they are on the same "level" as me or at least were at some time in their life.

Different preachers will reach different people. A congregation of people who have not gone through a lot of things in their lives will feel more comfortable with a pastor who has had a similar life experience. Someone who comes from a rough lifestyle will only feel comfortable with someone who has had their share of problems.
The key is that God uses both. He uses them to show that He is an inclusive God. He can use anyone (just look at Paul, David, Moses) and that it takes all kinds.

I like whom ever the Lord is using. Whom ever is allowing themselves to be used of the Lord for His divine purpose. I like those preachers who are consistant and who will take a stand. Stand for something or stand for nothing and fall. I like those who are not ashamed or afraid to tell it like it is!

i'd go for someone who's gone through different and difficult circumstances in life than one who's 'holy' or close to perfect. these people talk by experience and not just by the book and they have a lot of things that we can relate to. we could easily learn from them and we could apply easily what they talk or advice in our own lives. people are not perfect, everybody is bound to make mistakes. what's important is that we rise up again and learn from our mistakes and not to commit tham again. we won't grow without learning, and learning is better when we commit mistakes since we'll be able to realize what we have done.
