Will animals be in heaven?

Now, first off, if you don't believe there is a heaven, then you need not reply. This is for people who believe there is a heaven.
So when our pets die, will they be in heaven? When a regular non pet of an animal dies, will it go there too? A lot of people I know say there will be no animals in heaven. However, from reading the Bible, it says, and I'm paraphrasing, that whatever you want or desire, anything you can dream of, it will be in Heaven with you. Remember, I'm parahrasing.
So what do you think?

I believe so, animals have a soul like us, when my Dad passed away I was reading a lot of books by people who had actually passed away but were brought back, a couple of them had mentioned seeing their pets, I would like to think this is true and why not wouldn't they their hearts, feelings and soul is every bit as good as ours...

It would not be heaven if our pets were not there. So yes, pets go to heaven.
I don't know about non-pets, but I know my pets will be there, they all know about love.

In the Holy Bible, there's no mention about animals to be with God in heaven after the end of the world. God wants people to live with Him and so we are undergoing the process of selection - who will be with God in heaven. Animals are not mentioned. That is if we believe the Holy Bible. I am a Christian and I believe in God and the Holy Bible as the Word of God and it is the truth.
Please remember that we cannot even save our loved ones whom we like to be with us in heaven. How much more of pets or any other thing? There might just be misunderstanding of what you paraphrased. Please study the Holy Bible more.

I'm a preacher's daughter and have been in church my whole life. I've attended Sunday School, revivals, went to Christian schools, Christian youth camp.
None of this makes me a better Christian, but please do not tell me to study the Holy Bible more. If I did, I might as well become a preacher. Besides, there are points in the Bible that no two scholars agree on. Is there a rapture? Is there NOT a rapture? No two people can agree. And I never said my own opinion in my opening paragraph.
One thing I do know, we are taught to not be judgmental. See you in Bible class.

The author of this discussion did NOT say anything about "saving" the animals. She asked a very simple question. Do others believe animals will be in Heaven. Consider the references to the lion and the lamb.
Sometimes a friendly comment serves a better end than a sermon, on which you can not truly know the end.

The Bible does say something about a lion and a lamb and heaven. Does it not? People can have their own opinions and I have also been told that animals have no soul therefore will not be in heaven. But...I believe that every living thing God created will be in heaven. I know I have had some pets in my life and family and friends have also, and I know God sent these animals to us for a reason. I lost my little angel last May, and I know God sent her to me. She taught me more how to live with my cancer and accept it than I ever learned on my own. She helped me through some very tough times. I have heard story after story of animals seeming like angels unaware. So, I think there is no harm in any of us thinking our beloved pets will be in heaven. I guess we will find out when we get there. Great discussion :)

Thank you. I'm surprised a previous poster was so critical of my discussion. I have read so many stories of animals as angels unaware, like you said. And the Bible clearly talks about the lion laying down with the Lamb. He went to all the trouble to create animals, and he had them on earth from the beginning. Earth was supposed to be the perfect dwelling place before the entrance of sin, so there is a valid argument that animals could be in heaven along with us. It's not like we have to ake a pooper scooper with us. It'll be heaven.

I don't see why they shouldn't go to heaven. My friend and i got in an argument about this years ago.She says it says in the bible that animals have no souls and I asked her to show me what chapter and verse it says that and she hasn't been able to find it to this day.
I thnk they deserve to go to heaven even more than the human race does. You can't be them for loyalty and you don't see them killing each other over stupid stuff either.

a description of heaven contains animals why not pets also
6. The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them.
7. The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox.
8. The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the viper's nest.
9. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.

Certainly, if there is a Heaven as we imagine it, animals are going to be there. The loyal hearts of dogs who give so much and ask for so little means that most dogs would have to end up in Heaven once they have reached the end of their toils on Earth. Animals in general - they give so much yet ask for so little in return. It takes remarkably little to make a dog, cat, pig or snake happy - just satisfy its basic instincts, usually by leaving them alone, in the wild or if they are domesticated, allowing them food, room to roam and shelter with perhaps some affection. Most instances of animals doing bad things on humans happens as a reaction to human ill treatment. I think God has infinitely more time for animals than people, as animals live according to God's laws.

Hi AmbiePam,
I'm Muslim.. in my religion we believe that you can ask for whatever you wish in heaven.. including pets i think if you asked for it there...
but we also believe that animals become earth after they die this means they don't go to heaven nor to hell...
Moreover, in heaven people change so i think also animals there will be different than what we know here on earth..

I most certainly DO believe that our animals will be in Heaven. I know I'll need an extra big space to accommodate all my beloved, and gone before me, pets!! I know that God had to have loved animals to have created so many.
And think of all the animals that have served mankind out of their desire to do so. Many have given their lives to save people. I read once that Billy Graham won't say for certain, because the Bible doesn't clearly say, but he tends to believe that if these animals make us happy, they will be there, as God plans that Heaven will be perfect for us!

Yes, that's my train of thought. And when I look at my puppies I marvel how God came up with the concept of them. They are so loving, giving, and they have such a personality. Putting such creativity behind a creature isn't for nothing.

To me,i think the secreat is in god's hand. When we examine it from another side the bible said we shall all appear before the jugment throne to give Account of our work.I don't think animals have any work to give account of.

I have 2 dogs and 1 cat. I know that it is a very individual thing but as an animal lover, I know that they have souls. They feel love, hate (sometimes for another animal) lets face we dont get on with everyone. They hurt when they are injured, they get sick. In essence they feel just as humans do. I believe that as it does say "we are all Gods creatures" - YES I do believe that they go to heaven. Why wouldn't they? The argument against would be that if you are human God will let you into heaven, but if you are an animal when you die that's it! So what happens to their souls?

My unsolicited view on this is that animals do not have a soul as in a soul in need of salvation because of human's sin, but, have you ever thought of dogs who have walked into a burning building to pull out a child or an elderly person? Is this not "heart" in the truest sense? I am of the solid opinion that animals will go to Heaven as God takes great delight in them, and many of them have "earned" their home there.
The commenter who said animals turn back to dirt is right to a degree. Humans do this as well, but God has promised us a new body in Heaven. Can our great Creator not give the animals an eternal body as well? MY God can!!

Yes, Animals do go to Heaven. I know this, but it's hard to explain how I know.
It's in my dreams. I also know from late husband telling me. He really loved his animnals, so he knew when they were in heaven with him.

I do not know whether animals will be there or not. I only know that God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit will be there with all the angels and saints. I believe that once we are there, we won't even long for the things that is not there because the prescense of the Almighty will be more than enough for us. Once in His prescense, If people truly believe their beloved pets will be there, I am sure it is fine to believe so, as long as it does not interfere with their relationship with God and they build a theology around it. We would only one day understand the fulness of our gracious God. Pets or no pets, I want to be there.
