What is on your Easter Basket?

We went to Target earlier and my toddler caught a glimpse of all those ready to purchase Easter Baskets. The price was for $14.99 and there just a few toys in there and candy. She pointed one she likes where there is a tutu and ballet slippers. Told her that soon the Easter Bunny will come hoping our way and we still don't know what the contents of the easter basket will be.
I am against buying a ready to purchase easter basket coz I probably can find more interesting stuff than the ones in the basket. I am thinking of a DVD or some little toys and some candies.
Have you purchased your Easter basket yet? What do you have in them? If not, what are you planning to fill it up with?

I do not like the already made ones. I will make one for my 6 year old daughter. Last year I did candy, a gardening kit(gloves, seeds, shovel, hoe, little flower pots and some of those little predone up dirt packs that you just put in the pot and add seeds and water, she loved it) and just little bunny toys and duck toys. Then we also got to plant the flowers and watch them grow all spring and summer it was great.

That is such a great idea triplep! I love the idea of a gardening theme. It gives you joy for longer than just the day. It is also a project to do together. You are very clever!

I always make my childrens eater baskets. They always have books, socks, crayons, coloring books etc. This year my daughter is 5 and she is into strawberry shortcake so that will probably be my theme for her and my son is into Disney pixar movie Cars so that will be his theme. There is always and will be very little candy and we will color the eggs the day before together.

That sounds good. We were suppose to be spending Easter with my inlaws where they have the whole nine yards when it comes to Easter. But Easter comes early this year so we are out of time to travel. Even though there is just three of us and no family around in our area, I want to make sure that my toddler will experience the same thing...bunny cake, breakfast with the bunny, easter egg hunt, bunny picture and easter basket. Whew...just writing it down sounds so much..lol.
Advance Happy Easter and thanks for the comment.

I agree with you. I'd rather do something of my own, than buy a ready-made easter basket. I don't have children to buy baskets for. My grandfather loves chocolate though, so I think I'll get him a chocolate bunny, or something. Funny, 20 years ago he was filling my easter basket, now I'm going to fill his!!! ;-)

I'm making my own baskets. I'm with you, I'm against buying one already made. I think I'll have one action figure and then a few smaller items with only a few pieces of candy.

My mom never purchased baskets. She always bought stuff to place in it. She used to buy candy (cheap candy) and small cheap toys that were more meaningful than the crappy things they try to pass off in stores. I liked the homemade ones better.

I put my own togther for my son. Last year i bought him a huge bucket with a shovel and some sand toys and filled it with little things. Didnt need candy.
This year he is big into lightning mcqeen and we allready priced a few things for him, including a lamp and a very soft blanket. Ill probably toss a few plastic eggs with some jelly beans in it for fun. Generally we make our own eggs but his grandma gave me a ton of fake eggs. I was thinking of filling them with little stickers and whatnot.
