Looking to move my blog. Any suggestions?

I love to blog, but have only had a MySpace blog. The good thing is that I had almost total control over what I said, until I got deleted (long story, maybe some other time). So now I have to rebuild my fanbase, but am thinking about branching out to an actual blogging site or something. The problem is that I am just not sure how to start my own blog, put ads up (or any other way to make a buck or two off it), where to go, anything. So, since I know many of you like to blog, I'm asking you for any ideas or suggestions. So come on... Let 'em rip!
