Yeah...
I went to the Doctor back in November to get a physical so i could swim on my high school swim team. The doctor told me I have a small mole (its about 2 mm across if i remember correctly, its kinda hard to see as its on my back...) but its really dark, so she wanted me to have it looked at after swimming.
Well, now swimming is over and my mom is setting up an appointment, but I'm kinda scared...
How do they remove moles? Is it surgery where I'm knocked out and they use a Knife? Or is it a Laser kinda deal?
Just what goes on?
Thanks a ton!

Oh great! I'm glad it doesn't hurt much... is it super itchy? Or just kinda like there and annoying?
Thanks!

My BF had a mole removed from his back a few months ago. It was raised up a little and would get irritated by clothes rubbing on it. He mentioned it to his doctor when he was in for something else and the doctor said, "Okay, wait a minute," left and came back with a little box. He put some stuff on my BF's back to numb the skin and put the box over the mole. There was a little razor blade in teh box that just slid and sliced off the raised part of the mole. Then the doctor but some antibiotic ointment and a bandaid on the spot and sent him home. He said he didn't even feel the blade. It just felt like someone had rubbed a piece of plastic on his back.
I think this process doesn't completely remove the mole, just levels it and gives the doctor a sample if they want to test it.
I also had a friend at work who had a rather large mole remove from her neck, I think they did use a laser for that, but they numbed it up first. She said it felt kind of like someone was pinching the fold of skin, a sense of pressure more than anything else.
Moles don't tend to go very deep, so I don't think they would need to knock you our or anything, just numb the area.
Good luck.

Okie dokie, thanks a bunch.
I'm scared of needles and doctors in general, so i was pretty scared. I also have one on my neck thats a little bigger, and one my back thats raised, so i might have to have something done with those guys too, but i hope not.
I like that quick way... hopefully it won't be too bad.
Thanks for the help, everyone!

I had one removed a couple of years ago, just in the doctors surgery, I wasn't asleep he just deadened it with a needle and cut it out, I didn't feel a thing and I am a real sook, nothing to worry about....

Moles are removed with a laser, they just burn it off, it's not a surgical type thing, it's done in the dr.'s office. It's not a scary procedure. It's safe, my bro in law had a couple removed because they could've been cancerous, that's more scary!

It kinda depends if it is a benign mole it needs to be removed if its not than its ok not to be removed. Doctors remove moles by cutting it with a knife and local anesthesia
which means you dont get knocked down but its a substance that you wont feel a thing.
