im sure u have all seen at least one or two of the discussions im talking about here.. what i mean by 'fake' discussions are the ones that are just so far fetched that it sounds made up, just to draw more comments on something so outrageous ect ect.. im just curious to see.. do you think that these far fetched discussions are real? or just made up to get more comments?

Yes, I am with you on that some seem very made up. But the ones that really get to me are the ones that are asking for basically a one word answer. Like what kind of car to you own. What does it matter yet you will see many responses because it is and easy response topic. These are the discussions I wish would go without responses just to get people to stop listing them.

lol i hear you on that one!! ive found that responding to those discussions is pretty much worthless.. they never respond back to you, nor does it help your earnings at all..
thanx much for the comment :)

Wow its really funny that I ran across this topic! I am rather new here and have been wondering why some of the stuff on here seems so "odd" (for lack of a better word).
Sometimes, as I read through posts, I catch myself making a weird face, shaking my head, and going "huh?"
Some I can't understand no matter how I try, through no fault of folks who still have some trouble with English.
And even more threads seem that the posters have not read any of the replies above theirs.
I've answered a few of the one line posts - without realizing til later what they were trying to do. Guess I am a little "slow" LOL!
Thanks for bringing this up.

lol i make alot of weird faces too while browsing through the posts, so no worries your not alone lol. i often dont read the replies to the discussions until after i post mine, and often find that i replied pretty much the same thing as someone else :( i should really stop and read the replies that are there first!
thanks much for your comment!

I can't name names but someone is taking our responses to discussions and creating one of his/her own..doing it word for word. A friend on mylot brought it to my attention cause she took one of my responses and used it as a topic of it's discussion and even putting my username as the topic. That's how my friend discovered it. I've reported this person to mylot twice now but they haven't either taken my response off it's list or deleted that person's account as of yet. I checked out this person's profile on here and everything about smells FAKE. This person hasn't responded to any discussions at all. Just copied other peoples' responses into a new post with a new title.

There are fake discussions. When I first joined I called some people on it. There was a photo of a spider that was supposed to be from Mexico. It wasn't and I told them that it was a crock. Then someone replied oh why don't you let us have our fun. There were several people involved in it. I think some were innocent victims. None the less a good idea to trick MyLot.

yes my mom had problems with her rating going down when she would respond to discussions like that and call them on it.

I'm a Moderator on a reasonably successful onine Forum in the UK, and we get a few of these 'trolls' every now and again there.
After a while we get to spot them - some people just seem incapable of posting sensible threads, and others just have a wicked sense of humour. One chap we have as a user writes the most amazing posts, which the 'regulars' appreciate as jokes and 'tall tales' but the new members find outrageously sad / horrible depending upon the nature of the story.
I think some threads will always exist to try and draw outrageous comments from people.
Look at them as 'experiments in practical psychology'. :-)

I think some o them are, I think others are created by people who just don't know better either because of a lack of education, or poor English speaking skills.

hmm from what ive seen the people who dont have the best english speaking skills tend to come up with the 'one liners' which im not very fond of, however im not going to hold it against anyone for not being very fluent in english.

As with anything else on the internet there is a large fantasy element on mylot. I think the secret is to take everything you read on here with a pinch of salt. In all honesty does it really matter, we all learn from each other anyway, and if some people screw an extra few cents out of us all by exaggeration, so be it. I do worry that for some people the meager pickings to be made here is so important to some. However, it takes all sorts to make a world.
blessed be

well i think what bothers me most about it is that there seem to be alot of people who will actually believe such things, and then run around and tell all their friends ect ect.. and to me thats just not right.. i mean we have enough ignorant people in this world, why make them more ignorant ya know?
thanx much for your comment hon :)

I think some of them are "fake" as you put it. But they will get less and less responses because they will have to keep up with their "style" and just like liars, they tend to hang themselves in the end, and then you can spot them a thousand miles away.

And these scam artist are called hustler. They'll do anything just to earn a dollar. People are strange at times and will do anything to make some strange change. These people must have had very vivid imaginations as children and or neglected as children. They're seeking attention that they didn't get as children.

I am so tired of those discussions. They are everywhere on here. Then there are the discussions where they say something really offensive to a certain group in the question just to get people to respond. I read one like that today. She even said to people who responded negatively to what wrote that it sure did get lots of comments and it really did. It think at that point she had 66 responses. I do not think that is the way to deal with those people. I did not answer the question/discussion, as I was just browsing. The best way to deal with these kinds people is for us to ignore their discussions and not post.

Yes I think many discussions are started just for the sake of starting a new discussion, just to get more and more responses and many discusions are just one liners or some proverb and in the end they ask a question what do u think. These type of discussions are very irritating where the discusion starter just puts a one line question for the others.
But Many discussions are really genuine and interesting also.

Either way, they will make or break on whether or not they actually DO draw a discussion. The crappy ones will never be responded to, sink to the bottom, and disappear forever. The good ones will do well.
I still haven't figured out which discussions might do well or not - some of mine flop that I think would do well, and others do better than I expected.

Hahaha! And I thought I was alone in thinking this way. Yeah, there are a lot of discussions here that seem too far fetched...too damn fake to even have an iota of truth. I try to avoid those discussions. It's always easy to post responses to discussions like those but then again, it's like you're tolerating lies and made up stories. I'm sure most of these were started just to get responses and comments. These were started to of course generate more income for the thread starter or user. Oh well.

So far I haven't come across any discussions like that. Hopefully I won't.
