Is organized religion the root of all evil that is happening in the world today?

Every religion claims that it is the only way to true salvation. Most would fight for this claim, even if it ends up producing bloody wars because most believe that they're doing it for the greater glory of their God. But if God exists, is this what he really wanted?

Maybe misinterpration of religion or use of religion for personal gain is the root of a lot of problems, but you can't say that organized religion is all bad. Look at all the good it has done for billions and billions of people over time; hope, faith, redemption, salvation, not to mention charity and compassion.

Yes, an organized religion like Christianity perhaps have made some valuable contributions in the world today. However, I do not think formation of a religious body is an absolute necessity. You see, there is a difference in spirituality and religiosity. And I do believe spirituality is what we should aim for. And this can be attained by each individual. Having to organize religion as we do now today, only breeds hate. Each religion will not tolerate another because for each believe its religion is the only way to salvation. I do not believe that religions are tolerant of one another. It is only utter hypocrisy for most people to say that they tolerate another religion. But deep in their hearts, they will only see it in a dichotomy: them, the believers, and they, the unbelievers, or those who will not be saved.

Don't worry about them. The mark of the true religion is the mark of God and Jesus Christ. The Bible is taught wholly and nothing that's written in the Bible will be withheld from you. Then in no way will the preachers of God force you to join their ranks. The decision to accept or reject the teachings fully depends upon you. God's preachers simply preach the Word of God and in no way will they have to pick fights with anyone. Exchange of words will be fine but fights, never. Know the right religion by examining the preachers and their attitudes plus weigh their preachings/teachings against what is written in the Bible. You can read, you can hear and you can think. You will never be misled if you ask for God's guidance always.

But what about those who do not believe in a Higher Being? Do you think they will always be misled because they are nonbelievers?
