Higher Paying Job

HighFlyingAngel has mentioned good points. I would only like to just add one to them. People generally hesitate to tell friends that they're in need of a job. But infact if you tell your friends that you're looking for one particular type of job, the moment anyone of them comes to know about one, he thinks of you and lets you know, or refers you.

I'd continue to work where you are now, which I'm sure sucks, but continue to look for another job. I'd call places that are hiring and find out what hours are like and how flexible schedules tend to be. Some places are easier to work for than other's so you'll just have to search around and see what you come up with.
