Would you help?

If someone were close to reaching their goal, would you help them? From another discussion I read, we only get paid for discussions if we get at least 10 responses. Before you even ask, I don't recall where the discussion was where I read this so I can't tell you. Anyway, although I'm not sure if this information is correct, I was wondering if you would help to put a few discussions over the 10 response mark if they were close? Why or why not?

Please don't be misled. Only what was included in the FAQ is officially true. This thing you mentioned is just a speculation or some prank played by scammy people.

Don’t get me wrong, with the algorithm system I can’t confirm or deny it’s truth. Even though we can see our points add up, we can't see exactly where the pennies come from. I know that I am making money somewhere or I wouldn't have been paid, and most of my discussions don't have many responses. I started this discussion more out of curiosity than anything else.

Yes I read that also. I don't think I would intentionally go out of my way to look for responses that are nearing ten. It would be too time consuming. I tend to answer discussions that catch my eye. If a friend IM me asking me to respond to a discussion, as long as it wasn't all the time I guess I would do so.

That's a good attitude to have. I always like to help others when I can. I won't say that this is true... just that it is what I had heard.

Really? I haven't heard about that. Anyway, most of my discussions don't have responses at all hehehehe I would respond only to discussions that are of interest to me. Like now. It's really irritating when someone bugs you to respond to their discussions which you care nothing about or asks you to give comments on their photos on friendster or pester you to make them a testimonial. Arrgh! I really hate that

I have a lot of discussions with few if any responses too. I know what you mean about being bugged to respond to discussions you aren't interested in. If I have nothing to say, I'm not going to respond.

As far as i know, people dont have to have 10 responses to get credit for a discussion, because i have gotten credit for all of mine as far as i know, and most of them actually dont have 10 responses, but if it was the case, then sure, i would try to help everyone reach 10 responses per discussion, because i hope others would do the same for me!! I like this site because we can help eachother earn a few pennies, but ultimately we get to talk to eachother and have fun earning. This site is more of a hobby to me than a source of income

MissBrittBC - I also enjoy myLot for the discussion rather than as an income source, although if this were true (which I'm not saying it is) I would try to help others to reach the ten responses needed to get paid for their discussions. I enjoy the site one way or the other.

I basically go by what is of interest to me too, but remembered hearing this back when I first joined the site and was wondering what others thought of this.

I respond to everything that I have a response for no matter how few or many responses it may have. I would do anything I could to help others here however I haven't noticed much of a pay out on people responding to my discussions no matter how many times they have been responded to.

That's a lot of what made me start wondering about this. I don't get a lot of responses to most of my discussions, and between responses and discussions and responses I can't always tell which penny came from where. I always like to help others where I can though.

First of all I am not sure if it is true or not taht we only get paid for discussions with 10 responses or more. No one can say about how Mylot payment system works actually. Regarding the helping others, I will say that if there is something in that discussion about what I can write something meaningful I would surely do respond. It does not neccessary to catch intesrest when helping someone in this case, but atleast I have to have something valuable to write.

So true, there isn't any sense in responding just for the sake of responding. I wouldn't respond either if I couldn't add something to the discussion. I do like to be able to help another member whenever possible though.

I don't believe this because MOST of my discussions don't reach over 10 responses, and I still get paid.

I don't get 10 on a lot of my discussions either, but thought it would be interesting to find out what the views of other members would be on this.

Although, I know that isn't accurate, I would help anyone with a reasonable request if I could do so. Certainly, there are some topics that I would not feel comfortable posting about, but otherwise, that is what we are all here for isn't it? I think in a community such as mylot...helping others is very important. Have a nice day !

I don't pay attention to how many responses something has. If it is of interest to me, I will respond. Anf if that is the case, then I won't be paid for any of the discussions I have started because they haven't had that many responses. But It doesn't really bother me either. I got answers to my questions and that is all I wanted.

I diagree on the discussions over the 10 response mark. When I first started out, I was getting paid for discussions that I only had 5 on. I remember, becasue I made 14 cents off of 6 comments and discussions that I put in, and the most I had was 5. I do think that we should help as many people reach a goal as possible, as long as it is a goal that we believe in. If a person wanted to do something that I was totally against, I would wish them the best of luck, but I would not participate in it. I will, of course help you get to your goal. I think that if we all responded to each other's discussions if it was something that interested us, then we probably wouldn't have to worry about that mark at 10.

I'm not personally worried about reaching 10 responses on my discussions, although it would be nice to get a few more than I do. I have many discussions with far less than that, and if they get responses that's fine. If not, that's ok too. I can't honestly say whether or not the 10 response statement is true because it is impossible to determine exactly where the money is coming from because of their algorithm system. I believe I read it in a discussion somewhere when I first joined rather than in the myLot FAQ so there is a good chance that it could have just been someone's idea thoughts on the matter. I agree that we should all just keep responding to as many discussions as hold our interest, and help each other. In helping others, we usually end up helping ourselves as well.

Never heard about having to have 10 responses, but here's your #10!! Always willing to help out, but seems like the help is seldom returned. As it is, I'm having a heck of a time getting any referrals at all! Anyone want to help me with that? Just a few? :-)

Referrals are a problem for me too. So far I have managed to get two, but neither is active. Oh well, one of these days maybe I'll find some more active ones. Good luck to you.

I have never heard of anything like that, perhaps myLot would answer if we asked. Anyway, I am getting credit for my discussion even with a few responses, I have hardly ever ten or more of them. I am just having fun and the earnings will come in time. Hopefully the referrals will come too.

I usually don't get many responses to my discussions either, but that's ok. I enjoy the people here, and whatever earnings I get are a nice bonus. I just remembered reading this and got wondering about it. I'm hoping to find some referrals too, especially some active ones.

I go by how interesting the discussion is to me, if I want to read it then I will rate it and post a comment otherwise I will just ignore it. The vast majority of my discussions have attracted a lot less than 10 responses, but I don't see why I should ask people to read them if they don't want to, in fact I think MyLot specifically doen't allow people to tout for readers to respond to their discussions. There are over 84,000 members on MyLot now, it stands to reason that some members will never get many discussions read, others can get hundred's of replies.

Hello Kelly, I have read this also in a few different discussions. I believe that this is the way that it works, and I could be completely wrong. A discussion is started and when it gets it's first response you get paid something may not be a lot but you do get paid. I think that if the discussion gets 10 or more then your paid a little more and so on and so forth. I say this because of an experiment that i did just the other day. I responded to only 1 discussion in the middle of the day. The day before I responded to 5 also in the middle of the day. I know that my mylotting times are somewhere between 10pm and midnight for cut off, I think it very s from day to day. Anyways I received .14, now I know that I didn't receive .14 for one response no matter how good it was, LOL. I started no new discussions that day or for several days prior. I did receive some responses to previously started discussions and went and rated those and responded where needed. So that tells me that if I don't receive earnings for responding to my own discussions and you can't receive .14 for 1 response that mylot must pay for responses to previously started discussions I wish that I had paid closer attention to how MANY responses and what the discussions where to have had a better answer. So my thoughts are that yes I would most definitely help anyone to earn more if I could contribute to their discussion. I do search out 0 response discussions from time to time to try and help to get someone paid and also to try and revive what I consider to be good discussions that were just started at the wrong time and didn't get their fair chance at responses. One last thing to add is that although mylot does want us to start meaningful discussions, it would stand to reason that meaningful discussions should get more responses. Food for thought. :) This is of course just my 2 cents worth and own observations. I have no first hand knowledge of how mylot calculates the earnings. I do enjoy speculating as many do. One of the best parts of mylot for me is logging in, in the morning and being surprised at how much I have earned for the day before. Happy mylotting! :)
