Honestly I don't trust upgrading to a new operating system if it's less than 6 months old. I prefer to buy it when they've worked most of the bugs out of it because it's just less work in the long run. I have also heard that Vista doesn't support a lot of software and hardware and I'm actually a bit wary of upgrading to it. I'd say wait a while.

Woow WIndows Vista.. what a hot subject i can say. I have talked a lot in my area with many of my friends and all of them had only positive thoughts about it. I can say that i was blow off by this new windows system. Some things certainly lack to it but this new look which Microsoft has incorporated in it certainly do the money you would give for it. I have waited this new system for 2 weeks and here i am using it. It was pretty hard for me to buy it because in my area it can't be found. So i had to ask a friend from another part of my country to order me. I am so happy using it and all i have are only words of gratitdue. I post here a short description about VISTA.
Windows Vista contains hundreds of new features; some of the most significant include an updated graphical user interface (GUI) and visual style dubbed Windows Aero, improved searching features, new multimedia creation tools such as Windows DVD Maker, and completely redesigned networking, audio, print, and display sub-systems. Vista also aims to increase the level of communication between machines on a home network using peer-to-peer technology, making it easier to share files and digital media between computers and devices. For developers, Vista includes version 3.0 of the .NET Framework out of the box. The .Net Framework makes it significantly easier for developers to write high-quality applications than with the traditional Windows API.

not yet ....wait for the next service pack to be released. Because the first pack would not be free of bugs. The second service pack would be with the patches and thereby better.

i would recommend not upgrading to vista yet because it is still in its infancy. the bugs might not be worked out yet and you could have problems with it. it may not be compatible with games that you own.

"When Microsoft releases a new product they go through a development phase and then they release a Beta product. The product at this stage is close to completion but will have many errors remaining with some of them known. However, the company wants people to use the system and report back the problems they had and features they feel that are missing. The product is then updated and released in the stores.
The first product released will not be perfect. It will have some issues that weren't found in the Beta stage or were created in the last update. These errors will most likely be identified by the first owners of the product. You may want to avoid this trial and error period by waiting three to six months for the company to identify the issues and have them corrected.
However, most people will more than likely wait to upgrade their operating system when they upgrade their computer. You will eventually need to upgrade to windows vista because Microsoft usually phases out support for their other products over time. However, you may even want to wait to upgrade your computer for a few months to ensure that you get the improved version of windows vista if you can afford to wait.
In summary, windows vista is a good operating system that has many improvements over windows XP. However, the product is still new and will have bugs that the company will have to work out over the first year on the market. You may want to wait to upgrade unless you have a specific reason that requires you to upgrade now."

I usaly would not get a new oporating system for my computer. The reason for this is a XP computers hardware is made for....well xp. So putting a vista operating system will be a problem when you need to use some hardware! So i would just get a new computer.

In my opinion, I think peple should wait on getting a new operating system like Vista unless they really just need to have the absolute cutting edge. It is going to be a while before software and hardware companies start releasing Vista specific products, so there still is a while to wait on prices and Microsoft working out bugs. Plus, I think it will be a long time before manufacturers abandon XP, so, personally, I am going to stick with XP unless I find an awesome deal on Vista.
