I used to do a LOT of beadwork, but now I can't find decently priced beads even to order. =( Do any of you know a reasonably priced place to order them internationally? Or somewhere in Victoria that sells some cheap ones? I have been to The Reject Shop and Warehouse. They have some, but I'd like more of a variety to choose from.

here in the philippines there is a huge selection of beads, pearls and crystals that you can craft into jewelry. i dont think they sell online, thats why the prices are really, really cheap and the quality is really good. if you have friends who are filipinos or are coming to the philippines, tell them to go to Quiapo, theres a bead shop there that sells everything, including the clasps and other items for beadwork. only you have to really elbow your way around because this is where people get the materials for the jewellry that they sell in the malls.

I want to go! hehe... Maybe someone I know that lives there would get some and send them if I gave them a bit of extra. I have a few online friends from there. Thanks for the response. That place sounds like fun!

If it would be worth my time to resell some I'd definitely try that. Thanks for the response.

i know that in SA we have Spotlight and Lincraft, but i have no idea if you have them in Victoria! but there are so many shops online that cater for various kinds of beads :)
there are:
www.thebeadshop.com
www.uniquebeads.com.au
www.pollysbeads.com.au
just to start with
and there's a big long list of shops here:
http://www.beadingforum.com.au/html/bead_shops.html
there's also a great Aussie beading magazine called 'Creative Beading' - issues cost about $10 but it's full of great ideas as well as plenty of info about various bead shops, including online ones, in Australia.
hope that helps :)

Thanks for the response and advice. The problem I'm having is that they generally cost a lot more than in the US (And I'm a cheapskate) and it would nearly even up in price by the time I shipped them over. Thank you for the URL and the name of the magazine though. I will make sure to check them out.

Check ebay. I found a listing for some beautiful beads from there the other day. I get a lot of beads from ebay, they are less than going to a "brick & morter" store, even with shipping and you can combine shipping if you get more than 1 order from a seller.

Thanks. I checked Ebay a long time ago, but now I'm seriously thinking about making some new stuff and hadn't thought about it again.
