I used to think that Mona Lisa was Leonardo's dream girl. Then I heard that she was a wife of Leonardo's friend.
Few years ago however, I made an interesting discovery but of course I don't expect all people to agree with me.
I was renting an apartment in Lucban and in the bathroom was a painting of Mona Lisa. It was located so that when you sit on the "throne" you get to look at it. Outside the bathroom was a picture of Leonardo with all his beard and mustache. So when I noticed that I thought that the owner of the house really admired him.
After several trips to the toilet and staring at her every day I began to feel something strange about Mona Lisa's picture. She looks like a man. It's just that the facial structure was smoothened to appear like a woman. I studied her portrait closely and noticed that she looked like someone else. Then I remembered the picture outside of Leonardo. I compared them very closely and I figured out Mona Lisa was a female version of Leonardo himself.
However, my German professor told me that the real painting was really a woman. Well..I still want to believe my eyes and my discovery.

Leonardo did not finish the painting, for almost all of his paintings are unfinished. Being a perfectionist he always tried to go one step further in improving his technique. Furthermore, other women of the time were predominantly portrayed with eyebrows. For modern viewers the missing eyebrows add to the slightly semi-abstract quality of the face though it was not Leonardo's aim.
