In the News this week in Illinois, an off duty Chicago Police officer (250 lbs.) was caught on film (a security camera)beating on a 115 lb. female bartender who refused to serve him anymore alcohol. I watched the video as he kicked, punched and threw her to the floor. I became irate after noticing several people, mostly men..just stand there and do nothing. Fellow myLotters, what would you have done? Keep in mind also that he was not in uniform. Other officers also arrived to talk her into not pressing charges and they would cover medical expenses...outrageous. If you were her, would you have taken that offer or pressed charges as she did? I have been in situations where I have had to make a choice. Have any of you, and what was your choice?

I am a weak little girl, so I'd probably have been scared and got the heck out of there! I would like to think I would call the police on my cell phone, but I don't know if the thought would cross my mind. I would just want to get out of there in case the situation turned worse and turned into a bar fight or something. I know that we should think to call the cops, but a lot of times I assume someone else will do it. I don't react well to situations like that so I wouldn't even quickly know who to call or how to help.

In your defense friend, it is a bit risky to get involved. One can get hurt...but it gets under my skin when the so called MEN in that place stood there like statues..where were the bouncers? I still would have grabbed the biggest bottle and whacked him in the back of the head, lol. No, seriously, I would have :)

This is just wrong, 250 lbs hitting a 116 lb women. Someone should of setup up to the plate and try to stop what was happening. But it does make you think about who they allow now a day to become a cop. He should know better, he is a cop! And she should press charge without thinking twice aboue it.

And yes I did react to a guy who once was pushing a women into his locker in high school until she started to cry as he got ready to hit her I grab his arm and said that enough man! What's your problem man.He as if I want to do something about it, and I said I have as the women walked away from both of us crying. He looked at me and said F_ _ K You, I looked at him and said whatever as he closed his locker and walked away.
