Grace Under Pressure

Whenever I'm facing a difficult days, I will sulk a little and grab all my house cleaning aids and begin cleaning my house. From top to bottom and even re-organizing all my drawers and cabinets. My friends will be filled with awe whenever they saw how clean my house is, even without any maid to help me. I knew of someone who will get into a hissy fits by shouting and throwing things around his house. What's really incredible about this person is that he will be back to his usual normal self after the fuzzy tantrums. He told me its his way of loosening some of the tensions in his body. My question is: How do you keep your cool even during the most difficult situations? Do you need to go out for a jog, take a shower, write down all your frustrations or even going up to the rooftop and scream for all you want. Or do you prefer to cause a major conniption. Do share your thoughts.

it is really difficult to keep cool sometimes , atleast for some , like myself. lie on the bed , take deep breaths and listen to my favourite music.it really helps.

Ha, your cleaning episodes sound very familiar to me. In fact, I am out of cleaner, and impatient about waiting for the hubby to come home with the car so I can go buy some more. If I cannot use Cleaning to get my temper under control, there are some other things i do. I used to go for a run, when I was younger, it's something I have always enjoyed, and it relaxes me, as strange as that sounds. People who hate running simply don't understand the joy you can get out of pushing your body to it's max, and still be able to walk afterwards..but I haven't run consistently since my oldest was born 2 1/2 years ago, and if I all of a sudden began now, I'd problably hurt myself badly, and besides I dont think my toddler could keep up. (: Usually, because I have two little ones, and it's usually them that are irritating me beyond my ability to cope, I will put them in thier rooms, and close their doors, and go outside.. usually I pray and find my comfort with my relationship with God, and find the peace I am looking for..then I find I have enough grace to finish the day as a happy and contented mother like my children deserve..

I choose to drive and blast the music or blast the music and clean it seems to calm me down and help me work through what ever stress or anger I am feeling at the moment. If it's just stress then a hot bath with a book helps me out.

Hmmm, sometimes I do what you do... keep busy. Lots of housework, etc. But lately there have been times when I respond to a similar way to certain other people, like getting angry & raising my voice. It is never successful, but I haven't worked out how to respond without causing agression.

I know, jenny. Sometimes yelling can help us tone down the pressures down. Why not go to a secluded area and yell for all you want. This way, nobody get hurt. :)

i can't imagine the picture how you are cleaning your house. when something maked me depressed and sad,if i wanted to keep my mind, mostly i dipped my head into water, said to myself "be calm,be calm".but i think after the depressed situation,go for a jog, take a shower ,whatever you do,abandon yourself for you want. the next day it would be better.

I'd like to share some of the tips that I have offered to my friends who go through these "downers" every once in a while: Learn something new... http://www.expertvillage.com free the mind from a "routinized" way of thinking by the stimulation that comes from the challenge... Do something physically powerful: http://www.wanderingaengustreks.com/links.htm Walk, run, go treasure hunting. Uncage the body and you'll uncage the mind and vice versa ( Free your mind and your A$$ will follow) Visual entertainment helps some: http://www.tubezoom.com a movie, especially a free movie, is a very powerful stimulus and watching the right movie can elevate a persons mood! While a good audio book helps others:http://tinyurl.com/yps4rj Sometimes just hearing the human voice tell a story or give wonderful advice is soothing and healing... Sharing common interests: http://www.dogster.com or http://catster.com about pets can alleviate the isolation that is sometimes a feature of a "down" day... Then there's cooking a damn good meal for yourself and/or someone you love... sharing humor and passion, cuddling and kissin', just doing the things that Humans do and remembering we are Human and not just a set of "symptoms and diseases" to be treated for... Learn to have prolonged "news fasts" and create a "Days End Ritual" where you forcefully, if neccessary, shut down the "world" and turn on your attention to you and YOU only... this takes practice but it's well worth it... May Joy Abundance and Strength Be with you and May Guidance and Vibrance along with Love Itself, move into your Lives and never, ever leave! :) Blessed Be!

To cool the hot head I usually go on counting numerical numbers ie1,2 ...from the rear or upper numbers to lower numbers backward...and gradually my concentration gets diverted and my agony or hot head becomes cool...or I vsualize a cool place of my dream world which cools my thought.

Sounds interesting. I haven't heard of counting numbers to cool our head. The thing is, I prefer to do some activities when I'm under pressure cooker. :)

I don't think I'm good with pressure, I can burst into tears or burst out yelling and fighting with whatever or whoever comes in my way. Sometimes I clean but I used to do that when I was sick for some reason not so much with pressure. I find the best thing for me is to sleep, hopefully I'm not too stressed to the point of not being able to sleep as it's the one place I can go far away from my problems and have real happy thoughts. I've had some dreams Stephen Spielberg style, they'd make good blockbusters lol.

When things get tough I have my junk foods to save me. I think we all have our outlets for pressure and stress. We really have to take it all out or we'll soon explode. I will eat and eat all the food that while thinking of the best solution to my problem. That's why I always have junk foods ready. So if any unfavorable things happen I don't have to go out to get some. Well, I would say, they really helped. Following this whole day of eating junk foods I will spend the next day cleaning our closet and throwing up all those unwanted things inside.

I rarely keep my cool. I release the tensions by directing it back at the pressure cooker. He needs a taste of his own medicine. I know this is not a good strategy as I do not feel good after it. I get angry with myself, but this is me, what can I do with my quick temper :P To calm myself down, there are many things I do depending on the degree of the anger. I may punish myself with work, complain to my buddy, or jog myself to exhaustion or...... now there is mylot :P

I have just posted a discussion under stress only . Discussion is not for you so don't mind as you are my friend. ----------- I am very depressed today . It's like I am putting my 100% efforts to reply to all of your discussions and you people are not replying to even a single discussion of mine . I'm speaking about many of them excluding some who are really nice and nearly reply to each of my discussions. Think seriously now as I'm thinking of deleting you if I find you are not worth to be in my friends list as you don't bother about my discussions . I'm real UPSET . See this is what I did today. I posted some 90 responses and never got any response for my discussions.

I've never been very angry as such till now, only once I think and I couldn't keep it within so let it out by throwing my clothes all over the place(silly I know..lol) I cry when I'm frustrated, I just need to let it out. I also write in my diary and let my thoughts out in plain sentences or poems. I just need something to distract me and I'll be fine. Cleaning works too ;o)

Nothing silly by throwing your clothes, greengal. We all tend to do some unspeakable thing but for as long as we're not hurting anybody, we're entitled to a few tantrums by ourself. :)
