Sports Films

Let's be honest. In the past year, there have been a lot of "inspirational sports films" and true stories. As I was sitting in "Pride," the latest of these films, last evening it occurred to me that virtually every sports film seems to be reminding me of another film.
Have we hit inspirational sports film overload? Which of the recent ones has really worked for you? Or is it time for Hollywood to chill for a bit with this genre?

I haven't seen any new sports films because I've seen the best insipirational sports film , Brain's Song.

Are you talking about the original or the remake? I loved the original. It was one of my favorite films growing up. James Caan and Billy Dee Williams gave great performances.Even though it centered on athletes, do you really think it qualifies as a sports film?
I'm glad you reminded me about this film. I need to go back and watch it again.

I have long realized that that's the way they always made sports films. Yet, I still enjoy watching them. Perhaps it is because, the movies are incorporated with so much fun and intriguing twists or, it could be that it is the field of sports itself that is being considered for filming.

Don't you think some of them are getting awfully repetitive, though? It used to be that you'd get 1 or 2 inspirational sports films a year and they could really distinguish themselves. These days, it seems like you get a minimum of one each month. I'm a part-time film critic and I've seen so many sports films in the past year.
Even back when "Hoosiers" came out, it felt like that film was really different and special.
