Glad people are suing about the pet food recall

All I can say, is that I'm so glad that people are starting to slap lawsuits against Menu, the manufacturer of the 90 some odd brands of pet food that was tainted with rat poison...suing won't bring a beloved pet back that may have died as a result, but maybe as a result of this tragedy there might be a better regulation of the pet food industry...What really annoys me is the fact, that Menu was in fact aware of the problems months and months ago--they were actually conducting tests on animals and one in six died--well like, duh? Shouldn't that have been an indicator to recall sooner? And the news media is not tellling the whole story--there have been more than just a handful of pets dying as a result of the tainted foodl..more like pushing the thousand mark...and who knows how many pets may have died long before the recall and the connection wasn't made.
So I give a hearty cheer to those slapping a lawsuit....maybe because of this...maybe an incident like this will never happen again,

I agree with you. They knew of this a year ago and did nothing. So now make them pay! The latest report I herd it is NOT a few animals, there are thousands like you said. Shame on them for sweeping this under the carpet. I hope they get punished and fined big time!

I was reading elsewhere that Diamond, another big manufacturer of pet food ran into similar problems about three years ago--oddly enough this seemed to have been kept pretty quiet.--its only now coming out about the problem back then

They have EVERY right to do so! I heard them say on the news if people were getting sick this would be HUGER than it is. Plus I heard they held back with the info they had for a few weeks. Imagine! Some people lost pets because they didnt want to let it out they had bad food issues :((
I'm just glad my pets are safe. And as stated in a discussions yesterday, that we stopped using Special Kitty since last November which is on the lists. And my sister used to give Iams to her cat (almost 3 in July) when we got her in 2004 but stopped cause the cat, Maggie, doesnt like it. So I am GLAD our pets are okay :) but sad for those who have lost pets or will and I keep them in prayer :(

I have a couple of cans of the recalled food. I put it in a safe place until I can take it back to the store. I am so glad my animals didn't get sick from eating it. I feel so sorry for the people who lost their pets. I hope they get alot of money.

I am with you. It is sad that they still decided to put the food out in the shelves knowing it killed animals. It seems lately that these big companies are only intrested in money and the health and wellness of our pets.

This whole thing just breaks my heart. I have three dogs who are like children to me. I would be horrified to know that something I gave them caused them to get sick or die. I don't think I could ever get over that. My heart just breaks for those who have lost their pets to this.

I think it breaks a lot of people's hearts that here they are, giving them food for their pets thinking they are doing their pet good, and in effect were unknowingly poisoning them!

They definitely should be sued. How hard is it to check the food before it's sent out to see if it's gotten contaminated with something that shouldn't be there? That seems like a gross error on their behalf and it is their fault. Therefore they should be sued for it. How on earth does something like that get put into pet food anyway!? I mean come on, something is defintely wrong.

I'm beginning to wonder if maybe it would be worth it to invest in buying the more "organic" type pet foods--there's a whole bunch of them...including believe it or not, Paul Newman's Organic line of people food, also has a line of pet food--of course all these more natural pet foods cost a lot more, but maybe in the long run worth it
I found a listing of a few, there probably a lot more
Canidae Pet Food
Feline Future Cat Food
Natura Pet Products
Solid Gold Health food for Pets
Eagle Pack Pet food
The reason I'm gettiing interested in maybe buying bulk quantity of one of these foods --do or did you ever realize what goes into pet food in general??
What do you think meat-by-products means?? Well, I found out--it's parts of an animal, say chicken or cow that a person would never think of eating--like chicken heads ...and so forth...uh..makes you think...do I really want to give my pet that????

I have three young cats and I use one of the cat foods involved. I was very lucky not to get any of the tainted cans. My husband and I have decided that after all of the cans are done we are gonna cut out the wet food and only give them the dry food. I think this company should be sued. If they did know about this for a while and let peoples pets die. That is criminal. I hope a lot of people do sue them.

This is a tragic situation to be sure, however Menu Foods is probably as stunned as all the pet owners out there. After all, they buy their ingredients from suppliers they trust. I'm not sure who's at fault but I hope they find out soon and rectify the problem.

What I don't understand is why did Menu rely on a wheat product that was imported from China and was sprayed with the rat poison that is banned here in North America---cying out loud...Canada and United States has enough wheat...so why not use wheat from here?? Instead on relying on foreign wheat that wasn't regulated like it is here.

I agree with you. These people made money by killing animals and animal lovers lost money due to vet bills, not knowing someone else supposed to pay for it!
I'm sick of these people, is there any petition we can sign so govt will pay mpre attention worldwide? Let me know I will sign and get my friends too !

i think its sad that we cant even trust the companies that we buy our cat and dog food from. i have used iams before and i think that is one of the pet food that has ben recalled. when we did iam it was just the dry food. if im not mistaken just the canned food was recalled right?

Really!? That's is awful! I wonder what the point is in all this stupid dumb testing?! What low lifes there are in this darned world. I hope a law suit fits them well and even have to have it tailered. Take them to the cleaners too!

well...this is a bit of topic for me to say...but you do bring out a good point...why test animals to see what kind of reaction the food will give....but then could get into a big discussion about why do animal testing period at all....I used to be a donater of St. Jude's Children research...then it dawned on me....how do you think they research for "Cures"--why test animals of course.

I read a newspaper article that somewhere in Washington state a woman bought up all the recalled food she could when store owners didn't take it off the shelf fast enough. I feel terrible for the people who've lost a pet to this. I'm not a proponent of big government, but I wish there was more accountability for the pet food companies.

This made me so upset and furious! One of the grocery stores I go to was selling the one brand of cat food discounted and I bought it before hearing about this! I didnt feed it to my rats tho, but I would have sued if I did!! RAT POSION?! So many of my friends who have rats feed their rats dog food, and it was really sad =[
