how old?

i often get my 5 year olds to make there own beds? how old are kids when they start doing this stuff. one of them also takes out the garbage and feeds the cats. they put there dishes in the sink and put there laundry with the dirty clothes. i dont force them to, they do it without a fight most od the time. Am i being to hard

ill be giving you 2 thumbs up for that. when my kids reached the age 3 they are fixing already their own clothes and stuff they will wear. and i also start to teach them chores little by little. now that they are 16-15-13-11, they have chores around they house that really helps me a lot. they even know how to cook. i do everything when its weekdays and saturday and sunday are my day offs. teaching them chores makes them a more responsible citizen. you are on the right track keep it up.

thank you! i once dated a guy that was at that point 28 years old, he still lived with his mom and didnt even take out the garbage or shovel. they gave her more work then they ever helped her. it really upset me and i said my boys can live with me as long as they need to but they will always keep the house up just as much as i do. and besides one day i hope they settle down and get married and i want them to be the man that does the dishes mops the floor baths the kids etc... theres nothing nicer than a man that helps his wife. so i hope on the right track

we women reall adores a man who really moves and helps chores around the house, its what we call handsome points. wink wink

No you're not being too hard on your kids. The younger they start doing chores the better because they get used to the idea and just do them. A lot of children these days have it too soft, they get pocket money for doing nothing and that doesn't teach them anything useful.

thanks..i dont feel so guilty now, i thought i was doing a good thing but at times i feel maybe its to much. my freind comes over with her kids and they dont even have to pick up the toys they take out, and when i ask them to she doesn't try to reinforce it. it makes me angry
