Last night I dreamt of my grandmother who died in 1978 yet at the age of 86. In my dream she was very much alive. I don't believe in giving any meaning to dreams. But it seems that there are some users here who interprets dreams. Do you know why we dream? What might be the meaning of my dream?

every night we dream, our dreams are the result of the many thinking and events that happends to us everyday, our dreams also is a way our sub-concoius minds talk to us. If I were to understand your dreams, The very much alive experience with your grandmother may be giving you the comfort you need at this time and bringing you back memoties of her life. Our ansestors or those who shared life with us sometime and are gone back to the father are only physically gone but they live in our hearts and in our memories. Remembering them is a practice we do at home, be it expressed in different ways but there is some life and comfort and things from our inheritance that brings back life to those that sometimes we forget. You very well know that tradition in our place we have the canao, may be you can do a something similar where you can gather your next of kin and those who loved your grandmother to remember what life she shared you ones. In the process of gathering you reunite with the family and relatives and a lot of things may flourish from that event. God Bless and celebrate Life.

Hmm, you've probably thought of these already.
A date recently passed that had something to do with her.
You saw someone that reminded you of her.
Someone did something that she would have done.
You did something that she would have approved or not approved of.
You plain old miss her heaps.

You might be missing your grandmother very much. It's too long ago that she was with you. I don't believe too in giving meanings or interpretations to dreams. They just come from our subconscious mind. Just relax and there's nothing bad coming.

I am not a dream interpreter. But I can understand your feeling as I too have dreamt of my father as being alive and around.
I think every dream necessarily need not mean different than what we actually saw.We see our loved ones who are no more because of our yearning for their presence and when we keep thinking and wanting to communicate with them ,then occasionally they appear in our dreams.
Though for a moment, but dreams certainly give us an opportunity to relieve cherished moments with them.

I'm pretty much convinced that we dream about passed love ones when, a) we miss them the most, or b) they are trying to tell us something. I remember when my grandfather passed away of Alzheimer's, it was one of the worst days of my life. I was in a deep depression for several months. Then one night, I came home feeling extremely down. That night I dreamt I was out on a boat sailing with my grandpa. He used to have a sailboat. I even have a picture of me sitting on one with him. We were having a conversation about typical things, and he leaned over to me and whispered in my ear..."It's ok to go on with your life. We'll all be fine." I remember waking up and not only having a since of shock, but of relief, because I knew that he was telling me to let go. I still miss him everyday, but I spend more time thinking of the great things about him, and less time sad about it. Hope that helps. -- Toolfan

Dreams are supposed to be like a language.. and the 'words' are the symbols.. and what those symbols mean to the dreamer (you).. To know the 'meaning' of your dream.. what does your grandmother mean to you? How does thinking of her make you feel? Another 'symbol' might be the "she was very much alive" / very alive.. [joy? peace? security? happy memories? widom?]
Or maybe someone you saw recently reminded you of her.. sometimes even surroundings..

All i know is that we all dreams and its common to us. These dreams are product of our mind every time we sleep deeply. For me you just miss your grandma and that thinking gone to your subconscious thus you were dreamed about here. In bible time, God used dream to convey his message or prophecy to his servants like he did in Joseph the son of Jacob who were outcast to Egypt.

It's just ordinary for all of us to dream but we don't have to get the meaning of such dreams. We have to depend on God and not the meanings of dreams. We have subconscious mind and sometimes those appear in our dreams.
