I received the following in my email today from a friend I trust. I expect it will work. No danger in sharing the hint if it will help even one!To stop nighttime coughing, put Vicks Vaporub generously on the bottom of the feet at bedtime, then cover with socks. Even persistent, heavy, deep coughing will stop in about 5 minutes and stay stopped for many, many hours of relief. Works 100% of the time and is more effective in children than even very strong prescription cough medicines. In addition it is extremely soothing and comforting and they will sleep soundly. I heard the head of the Canada Research Council describe these findings on the part of their scientists when they wer e investigating the effectiveness and usage of prescription cough medicines in children as compared to alternative therapies like accupressure. Just happened to tune in A.M. Radio and picked up this guy talking about why cough medicines in kids often do more harm than good due to the chemical makeup of these strong drugs so, I listened. It was a surprising finding and found to be more effective than prescribed medicines for children at bedtime, and in addition, to have a soothing and calming effect on sick children who then went on to sleep soundly.

I actually used to do this for my kids. I'm not sure why I knew it or who told me but at one point in time I was told that the Vicks on the feet help the child and truly makes a difference. It's a bit like the accupressure format, relating to the many areas of your feet and hands that connect throughout your body I guess? Either way... I agree that it works! Have no idea WHY and honestly don't care as long as it's safe and works! lol Great discussion!

I personally have tried this- It did stop my coughing-- I also rubbed it on my chest- and I could breathe-- my nose cleared up- I love Vicks-- I have some serious allergy and sinus problems-- Vicks vapo rub works great! I heard about putting it on your feet from an older lady at work- I was skeptical at first- But it worked... My feet were gross in the morning!

I wish to thank u for sharing this information. HOWEVER THERE is very effective NATURAL WAY OF HEALING. TAKE CABBAGE And FEW OUTER PEEL OF CABBAGE LEAVES should be put in WATER and let it BOIL. The person affected can inhale STEAM VAPOUR out of this. THERE will be complete RECOVERY with one week.

A common cold will cure in about one week anyway. Most any of the little hints your hear either on myLot or anywhere else, are just remedies for comfort.

I have never heard of this. I don't understand how putting vicks vapor rub on the bottom of ones feet would help a cough. I do use it to apply to the chest area, that seems to help a lot. I love vicks, especially when having sinus problems, which I do have a lot of. If anyone knows of any website that talk about using vicks on the feet for coughing could you please post the link here so I could check it out in order to see what it says? thank for the post. Have a great day.
