Do you often fly in or have you often flown in private airplanes?

My husband and I used to own an A-lon Ercoupe double passenger plane and took lots of interesting trips in it. The most memorable was the day that Mt. Saint Helens in Washington State errupted. We had flown in to a breakfast meeting at Albany, Oregon when we heard that the mountain had errupted and we got in the plane to go see what we could see. After about 50 miles the black smoke was so thick and so high and the air started getting really bumpy so we had to turn back. It was a weird feeling that we were actually flying through some of the ash that had come out of the volcano. We would never do such a thing now, but we were young and foolish back in those days.
