I've pretty much given up on trying to get a publisher or agent for my still to be realized career as a children's book writer. It seems that now you have to be a celebrity to get a deal. I'm starting my own website for children's stories. Any tips on how to create a great website will be very much appreciated. I'm trying the Yahoo Sitebuilder, but already, I'm experiencing limitations.

I don't really have any tips but I just had to reply to say Don't give up trying to get your book published! I want to be an author someday and I haven't tried getting anything published yet but I know that it can take years with tons of rejections but someday, you never know if you'll get that acceptace letter and when that happens... all those rejections will have been worth it, just to get the one acceptance.

I hope you won't give up trying. Being a celebrity would certainly open door but it doesn't mean that you can't open doors for yourself. Just imagine touching lives of those children and influening them in terms of values that they get for your stories is enough not to give up. Goodluck and I hope you will find the right publisher for you.

Have you tried self-publishing? Sites like iUniverse.com and AuthorHouse.com deal with that. I'm not sure if either of them publish children's books, but I am sure that there is a self-publisher out there that does. It may take time to find it, and the profits will most likely be low, but at least you'll get your book in print.
