My terrible, horrible, no good very bad day

Yesterday was one of the worst days I have had in a long time.
It started out while I was getting ready for work. My flat iron stopped working while I was less than halfway through my hair. Then, I burned my thumb when I was using my large barrel curling iron to finish ironing out my waves. After I finished, I realized I was going to be late for work.
When I got there, I was confronted with an emergency, an irate family member, a furious director of nursing and 2 new admits. I sent the patient to the hospital, scheduled the surgery for the patient of the mad man and explained to the DON why it took us 3 days to get it scheduled. Then the new admit who is on hospice had a son who just kept standing too close to me for my comfort. Then her bed didn't work and he wanted to know what I was going to do about it. Ummm..call the bed company?
Then, another resident decided to throw up. It had blood in it. Great. I called the doctor and got orders for her.
OK time to sit and chart on all my lovely occurrences. Nope. A lady walked up to my desk and pulled up her shirt and asked me if her left breast looked bigger than the right. It did. And red and swollen. Call another doctor and get more new orders.
I finally got everyone medicated and into bed. Then I had to chart on everything.
I finally got out of there at 2:30 am. And got to go home to a husband who was disappointed that I didn't get home on time so I could watch movies with him.
Ever have a day like that?

Well not like that but we have three rental houses and a couple months ago the septic tank went on one, a hot water main blew up and spewed into the vacant house causing serious mold damage and the hot water pipe burst on the house we are living in one day before my husband went to Iraq. So now we are out $10,000 and my husband is in Iraq. Also I have two kids and I've had 9/10 pain from the muscle spasms in my back since Friday morning. I have no meds as my refill appy at the military clinic is still a month away and two small children to attend to with no help.
I guess bad days are relative.

Thanks :) I finally had a break and was able to get to the ER Monday morning but all of those muscle spasms and me having a house to run while walking at a 90 degree angle or crawling made me injure those lower back muscles. It will take extra time to heal but I'm well on my way. The good news is that my husband has been calling from Iraq every evening to check up on me. He's super busy and it's so sweet of him to take that time out. On the other hand I feel horrible because he's over there and has worse things to worry about. I wish I didn't have to burden him with this right now, but what can you do, right? :)

Gosh Trace...you deserve a medal! I think you were having a 'Queen of Murphy's Law' day going on there (I know about those because I often have them myself and have been nominated for the crown a few days!) I hope you have better days in the future!
