Anybody use it in high school or middle school? I know I did, but it was to double-check my understanding against what "the experts" said. I always felt kind of dirty when doing it. Did you think using spark notes took away from your joy of understanding the book?

I did use Spark notes throughout high school and I have even used them during university when I am stuck. Like you I use them to check my understanding. After I finished reading a book I would look over the Spark notes to see if what I thought and what the "experts" thought were along the same lines.

I've never heard of "Spark notes" but I used "Clifnotes" when I was in school & I just couldn't plow thru what ever book it was because it was boring & I had studing to do in other subjects. I felt a little odd because I love books, but what ever book just wasn't interesting to me. I just didn't have time then, or now, to read a book that doesn't interest me - even if it is a "classic." I had to read Mayor of Castorbridge - talk about a LOUSY book & its supposed to be a classic!
