I've tried the friends w/ benefits thing a couple of times but it has never worked out for me. Either myself of the other person would always get attatched and eventually want more. Please share your experiences has anyone ever made this situation work before?

I have never been in a relationship like this but I don't think that it could work. I feel that if you are intimate with someone it is hard to just be friends with them. One of the two will get hurt and it isn't worth losing a good friend over something like that.

It's never worked for me. Maybe I'm too much of a girl, but if I'm really intimate with someone, then I fall for them hard...even if I try to lie to myself and convince myself that I'm not. However, if I'm just messing around with someone (you know, not fully doing the deed), then I think it's much easier to have friends with benefits. Granted, it seems like in this situation, the guy tends to fall harder than I do. Dating is just entirely too complicated. Sometimes I'm jealous of my married friends. Their lives are much more boring...but also much less drama-filled than mine!

I have never been in a situation where it works. I always became attached or he did, just like you stated. Its really hard to be intimate with someone for quite a while, and have no feelings at all. I was with a guy, who I feel in love with, and we were friends with benfits for over a year...it didnt work. I became an emotional wreck.
